The annual MCEP membership meeting will include a summary of chapter activities, committee reports, election for the 2017 – 2018 Board of Directors, outgoing and incoming Presidential addresses, and recognition of outstanding service to the Chapter. (A BOX LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED) All MCEP members are encouraged to attend. Open to all registrants and a boxed lunch will be provided to those who register in advance.

“MINUTE TO WIN IT” Fundraiser – Monday, July 31

So, do you feel competitive? Do you think your family has what it takes? Show us what you’ve got! Based on the NBC Television sensation, Minute to Win It, join other MCEP families/friends as they partake in 60-second competitions using household items to complete deceptively difficult games. Those involved will have a blast competing on the front lawn of the Grand Hotel, while also raising money for the Michigan Emergency Doctor’s Political Action Committee (MEDPAC). Prizes will be awarded to the winners while the losers are left to ponder what might have been. Specific details on this event will be sent with your meeting confirmation and will be available at the MCEP registration desk.

31st Annual Deathbuster’s Memorial Golf Outing – Tuesday, August 1

Pre-register to assure your spot! Onsite golf registration is limited and must be received no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, July 31, so foursomes can be determined. Please arrive 15 minutes early to prepare for a shotgun start and allow transport time to The Woods. Grand Hotel guests will receive ½ off green fees for this year’s event! Join us and gain insight into this process with one of the country’s most knowledgeable speakers. This is a general interest presentation – everyone welcome including guests/spouses.

Children’s Activities Grand Hotel babysitting services are available through the Housekeeping Department of the Grand Hotel for children 4 and younger. Babysitting charges are $18.00 per hour, for a maximum of three children.

Hike to Fort & Butterfly House Visit – Children’s Program – Monday, July 31 Ages 5 & up: Join your friends for a fun hike to Fort Mackinac for a self-guided tour followed by lunch at the Fort Tea Room. Kids will then visit the Island Butterfly House. The Original Mackinac Island Butterfly House is the 1st of its kind in Michigan, and the 3rd oldest LIVE butterfly exhibit in the United States. The world-renowned facility has 1800 sq ft of tropical garden filled with hundreds of live butterflies from four continents. You must register with MCEP for this event – registration fee required.

Summer Fun – Children’s Program – Tuesday, August 1 Ages 5 & up: Join your friends for a game of Quidditch followed by a hike to the Woods for lunch and a game of Duck Pin Bowling. Enjoy a stop at Sadie’s Ice Cream Parlor on the way back. You must register with MCEP for this event – registration fee required.

Evening Grand Getaway – Children’s Program – Tuesday, August 1 Ages 5 & up: Enjoy dinner with friends followed by an exciting Scavenger Hunt. The evening will wind down with a movie and snacks. You must register with MCEP for this event – registration fee required.

Cancellation Policy Refunds must be requested in writing. If your written cancellation is received by June 14, 2017, you will receive a full refund minus a $100 processing fee. Cancellations received between June 14 and July 5, 2017 will receive a 50% refund. No refunds for cancellations received on or after July 6, 2017.

Exhibit Hall Please visit the exhibits on July 31-August 1 during the scheduled breaks. In an effort to address the concerns of our exhibiting companies, we are closing the exhibit hall to children until Tuesday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. All MCEP functions, including entry into the Exhibit Hall, require an official MCEP Assembly name badge.

Transportation By Car Motor vehicles are prohibited on the Island. All travel is by carriage, bicycle, horseback or foot. Major highways lead directly to the Straits of Mackinac where you will find parking at Mackinaw City or St. Ignace before boarding a ferry to the Island.

Ferry Service to Mackinac Island Passage to Mackinac Island is provided by several ferry boat lines. Shepler’s Ferry Service (www.sheplersferry.com) is the exclusive ferry line for the Assembly. Discounted round trip fares of $19/adult and $10/child will be honored with possession of the custom coupon you will receive with your registration confirmation. Tickets can be purchased on-line beginning July 1, 2016 using the online promotion codes of: MEMA17. Luggage transfer is simple and convenient, with assistance provided on both the mainland and on Mackinac Island. Parking: Ample parking is available at all mainland ferry docks. All ferry lines offer complimentary outdoor parking. Indoor and valet parking is available for nominal charges. Taxis: It’s a short walk from the ferry docks to Grand Hotel. Horse-drawn taxi service is also available for a nominal fee. Horse-drawn taxis greet all ferry boats arriving at Mackinac Island.

By Air Commercial Airlines: Mackinac Island is served by Pellston (Michigan) airport, 12 miles south of Mackinaw City. Commercial air service to Pellston is available daily through Delta Airlink in Detroit. Mackinac Island Airport: Mackinac Island’s Airport’s 3,500-foot lighted, paved runway is capable of accommodating private and charter aircraft. The airport is one mile from Grand Hotel. Limousine & Shuttle Service Mackinaw Shuttle (888) 349-8294 Mackinaw Shuttle is a Pellston, Michigan Airport based companies that offer taxi service between Pellston Airport and the Mackinaw City ferry docks along with other Michigan cities on a 24-hour basis. This service is also available on a charter basis. They recommend at least 2 days or more for reservations. Cost is $50/person, round trip or $30/one-way. There is an additional charge for evenings. Reservations are highly recommended.
