INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 101A71S/101A85S DELAYED EGRESS SYSTEM

For doors with standard latching exit devices and cylindrical or mortise locksets 1) When the door is closed, latched, and the lock is energized, the Green LED indicates the door is secure. 2) Applying less than 15 lbs. of pressure and releasing the door latch activates the nuisance timer, intermittent alarm tone, and the LED becomes Amber. If the door is released before the nuisance time setting (0, 1, 2, 3 seconds) has elapsed, the door stays locked, the alarm tone stops, and the LED changes back to Green. 3) When activation exceeds the nuisance time (1, 2, 3 sec.) or the nuisance timer is set at 0, an irreversible process begins that will unlock the door in 15 seconds (30 seconds optional). The LED is amber and the alarm changes to an alternating tone. 4) The door unlocks when 15 seconds has elapsed, the LED changes to red and the alarm tone becomes continuous. The accumulative total of the exit delay and nuisance delay does not exceed 15 seconds (30 optional). 5) The lock must be manually reset. 6) Built-in key switch provides alarm reset, sustained bypass and timed bypass (1 to 30 seconds). 101A Exit Check® will release immediately upon activation of the Fire Life Safety System.

For doors without latch assemblies Activation is initiated by an SDC Sure Exit®-Request-to-Exit Push Bar®. The door release sequence proceeds as described above.

Operation

Operation

The exit door is normally closed and latched.

The exit door is normally closed and latched.

The Model 1511S Exit Check secures the door in the locked mode with the Green LED indicating locked status.

The Model 101S Exit Check secures the door in the locked mode with the digital display indicating 15 or 30 seconds for the exit delay time.

Releasing the door latch and applying up to 15lb. of pressure to the door provides a pre-activation warning beeping tone. When the nuisance delay time is exceeded, the Exit Check begins the irreversible door release cycle. At this time, the warning beeping tone changes, the LED changes to Amber, and an alarm output is provided to alert personnel of an unauthorized exit. The Exit Check will release after the 15 second delay cycle (allowing for free egress), the LED will then indicate Red and a steady warning tone will sound until the Exit Check is reset by authorized personnel.

Releasing the door latch and applying up to 15 lb. of pressure to the door provides a pre-activation warning tone. When the nuisance delay time is exceeded, the Exit Check begins the irreversible door release cycle. At this time, the verbal exit instructions are announced, the digital display begins counting down to zero, and an alarm output is provided to alert personnel of an unauthorized exit. When the verbal instruction announces “Exit Now” and the digital display indicates zero, the Exit Check releases (allowing for free egress). When the door unlocks, the speaker output changes to a continuous warning tone until the Exit Check is reset by authorized personnel.

THREE MODELS AVAILABLE

When the door closes, the Exit Check can be reset by turning the key switch located on the lock to the “Reset” position, or remotely by providing a contact closure across the Remote Reset input.

S

Single Door Model

T

Tandem Door Model. Includes one standard 101S or 1511S and one additional standard EmLock with a trigger mechanism. For pairs of doors with surface mounted vertical rod panic devices with stop mounted triggers and strikes. Pushing either door unlocks both doors in 15 or 30 seconds.

1)

Remove the slave cover.

2)

Connect two 20 awg wires to the power terminals [1(-) & 2(+)] on the slave lock’s PC board (note the polarity).

Double Door Model Two EmLocks and Delayed Egress Electronics mounted in one double width housing. For pairs of doors with mortise, rim mounted and concealed vertical rod panic devices with concealed strikes and triggers. Pushing either door unlocks both doors in 15 or 30 seconds.

3)

Connect two 20 awg wires to the trigger switch terminals (7 & 8) of the slave lock’s PC board (polarity is not important).

4)

Feed the above 4 wires through the header of the frame and into the access area of the master lock.

5)

After confirming that the trigger switch (P5) is plugged into connector J5, replace and secure the slave access cover.

6)

At the master lock, connect the two power wires from the slave lock to terminals 5 (-) & 6 (+). (Observe polarity!!!!)

7)

Remove the jumper wire from terminals (19 & 20) and connect one of the two slave trigger switch wires to each terminal (polarity is not important).

8)

Replace and secure the access cover on the master lock and proceed to test the unit.

Authorized Release If the Exit Check is in the secure or egress mode, immediate access can be gained by activating the lock-mounted key, or by an input to the Request to Exit feature by devices such as: a card reader, keypad, or key switch. Authorized personnel can open the door for an extended period of time by turning the built-in key switch to the “Bypass” position. Nuisance Delay Time The Nuisance delay time feature, intended to avoid accidental triggering, is standard and field selectable for 0, 1, 2, or 3 seconds. Pushing on the door releases the door latch and sounds the pre-activation alarm. Releasing the pressure on the door before the end of the Nuisance Delay time will turn off the warning alarm and reset to the secure mode. If the person intends to exit, they must continue to push on the door until the end of the Nuisance Delay time period. The irreversible Exit Delay cycle time begins after the Nuisance Delay time period. The Nuisance Delay time period is included in the 15 or 30 second unlock cycle and it will not increase or decrease the “total time to unlock” once the Exit Check is activated. For example, when an Exit Delay time of 15 seconds and a Nuisance Delay time of 3 seconds are set, the Exit Check will unlock the door 12 seconds after the end of the Nuisance Delay time.

The Exit Check will release immediately upon activation of the Fire Life Safety System. When the system is reset, the lock will return to the secure mode. Reset-on-Power-Up (Dipswitch Position 6) When enabled, the reset-on-power-up feature enables the Exit Check to comply with code requirements in jurisdictions that require manual reset/relock of the Exit Check upon loss and restoration of system power. Upon restoration of system power, the Exit Check will remain unlocked and will indicate a reset-on-power-up condition by a flashing green LED. Turning the reset switch momentarily to the reset position will relock and rearm the door.

Note: If the system is being powered by a 12VDC power source, move the magnet connector from the 24VDC position to the 12V position (see illustration below).

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 101V71S/101V85S DELAYED EGRESS SYSTEM

For doors with standard latching exit devices and cylindrical or mortise locksets 1) When the door is closed, latched, and the lock is energized, the ‘15’ seconds display indicates the door is secure. 2) Applying less than 15 lbs. of pressure and releasing the door latch activates the nuisance timer, alarm tone, and the display begins to count down. If the pressure on the door is released before the selected nuisance time (0, 1, 2, 3 seconds) has elapsed, the door remains locked, the alarm tone stops, and the display returns to ‘15’ seconds. 3) Once activated for a period that exceeds the selected nuisance time (0, 1, 2, or 3 seconds), an irreversible process begins that will unlock the door after a total time of 15 seconds (30 seconds optional). A voice will announce the remaining time to unlock along with an audible tone. At the end of the 15 second delay time (delay time = nuisance time + irreversible time) the voice will announce “Exit Now”, the display will flash ‘00’ and the door will unlock. 4) The voice announcement will continue along with a tone until the system is manually reset and relocked by turning the key switch to the reset position. 5) Built-in key switch provides alarm reset, sustained bypass and timed bypass (1 to 30 seconds). 101V Exit Check® will release immediately upon activation of the Fire Life Safety System.

For doors without latch assemblies Activation is initiated by an SDC Sure Exit®-Request-to-Exit Push Bar®. The door release sequence proceeds as described above.
