Pentagon recently drafted a paper strategizing against Republican budget cuts

• Secretary Clinton intends to: • Defend and build upon the Affordable Care Act. • Lessen out-of-pocket expenses. • Encourage states to expand Medicaid. • Invest in making enrollment easier. • Expand access to healthcare to all families, regardless of immigration status. • Fight drug companies on rising prescription drug prices. • Protect access to women’s reproductive healthcare.

Donald Trump and Healthcare •

Mr. Trump wants a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act and replace it with the following policies: • Allow sale of insurance across state lines. • Make premium payments fully deductible from tax returns for individuals. • Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts. • Require price transparency from all providers. • Block-grant Medicaid to the states. • Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers. Consumers would have access to drugs from overseas.

115th Congress Outlook • • •

The GOP is expected to keep its majority in the House of Representatives. It is not out of the question for Democrats to gain a majority in the Senate. What we may see from the next Congress: • Increased defense spending • ACA depends on the next President and Senate. • Mental health will take a front seat, continuing the bipartisan efforts of the 114th Congress. • Medicare reform?
