Raglan Primary School Autumn Term Newsletter No. 5 19th December 2013 Dear Parents/Carers, As this long term comes to an end I wanted to highlight some key events from this term and a few reminders for the New Year. What fantastic Christmas performances from KS1, KS2 year 4, the Raglan Choir & the Super Singers, who have brought festive cheer to the whole of Bromley! It has certainly put me in a festive mood and hope that those parents who have seen these performances feel the same. Well done to all those involved and a special thank you to all my hard working staff here at Raglan. They are always willing to go that extra mile where the children are concerned. Also, well done to all the children at Raglan for all their hard work this term and they have all earned a restful holiday. SCHOOL DINNERS The total due for the period Tuesday 7th January 2014 to Friday 14th February is £58.00. This should be paid by cheque, made payable to ‘Raglan Primary School’ with your child’s name and class on the back. This is due on the first day back after the Christmas break. Please can we remind you that regrettably Lunch options cannot be altered mid term.

SANTA’S GROTTO As most of you will have seen the Raglan Christmas Grotto arrived this week and I would like to say how impressive it is. A truly magnificent winter wonderland. Well done to everyone involved with special thanks going to Annabelle O’Docherty and her amazing creative skills. We will let you know how much money was raised as soon as we have the figures.

KS1 & KS2 CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCES The Infant Christmas production was an enthusiastic and enjoyable performance of ‘The Nutcracker’. The Year 4 Christmas performance ‘It’s a Cracker’, really was a cracker. Everyone performed beautifully, the singing was lovely and there was not a dry eye in the house – including mine! A huge thank you goes to all the teachers, support staff and parents that helped with each performance. It is very much appreciated!

RAGLAN CHOIR & SUPER SINGERS The Choir sang at White Gables Alzheimer’s Day Centre. They sang lots of Christmas carols which were greatly enjoyed by all. They also sang beautifully at The Bromley Common Methodist Church Carol Service on Sunday 15th December. The ‘Super Singers’ put on a grand performance at the Intu Centre in Bromley on Wednesday 11th December. SENIOR CITIZEN CHRISTMAS PARTY

Well done to the Year 6 children for all their wonderful preparations for the annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party. It was enjoyed by all judging by the lovely letters and cards we received with grateful thanks. A big thank you goes to the parents for your gift donations and those who helped out on the day.

CHRISTMAS PARTIES A HUGE THANK YOU from all the children to the F.O.R. for all their effort and support throughout the year and for arranging the Christmas parties. An event which is enjoyed by both pupils and teachers alike.

CHRISTMAS CLOTHES DAY & DONATIONS I am delighted to announce that with your generousity Raglan raised £582.50 which has been sent to the British Red Cross for the Phillipine Disaster Appeal. Thank you so much your support is very much appreciated. COLD WEATHER Just to remind you that when the cold weather arrives in the event of snow I would ask parents to check the school website- www.raglan.bromley.sch.uk or for messages on Parentmail – please ensure that we are kept up to date with email addresses.

As the winter weather gets colder please can all parents ensure that their children come to school with a warm winter coat. It is so important for the children to go outside at break times to exercise and get fresh air, but they must be suitably dressed. All coats, boots, hats, scarves and gloves must be clearly named. Children must bring shoes to wear in the building please. Thank you.
