BDCHS After School Program Guidelines Program Overview Parents have expressed the need for supervision of students beyond the school day. A fee based tutoring & recreational after school program will be offered at Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School for only BDCHS students. The main purpose of this proposed after school program is to serve as a tutoring lab for students being picked up after supervision for the school day has ended at 3:15 pm. Activities In conjunction with tutoring, program activities may include other recreation options such as: • Fitness and Exercise • Sports • Field Games • Dance and Music • Leadership Development and Community Service • Special Guests Recreation leaders will present activities, provide equipment and supplies, and instruct or lead activities. Emergency & First Aid Parents will be required to keep “Emergency Information” and “Medical Release for Treatment” forms current. If parents would like program staff to administer medication as needed an “Authorization to Administer Medication” form will also be required. Each of these documents will be kept on site for staff to refer to in the event medical attention is required. If medical attention is needed, staff will make every effort to contact parents. All program staff will be First Aid and CPR certified. Fire & Emergency Evacuation Program staff will follow the evacuation guidelines as outlined by Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School. Hours of Operation & Daily Schedule The After School Program will follow the Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School calendar, with operating hours Monday through Friday, 3:15 to 5:45 p.m. The program will be closed on holidays, school breaks and vacations and all non-student school days. BDCHS staff will not be responsible for student supervision after 5:45 p.m. Students will be escorted to sit out side of the student entrance and will not be supervised after 5:45pm. • Habitual tardiness in pick-up of students may result in the dismissal from the program.

Facility Activity areas may include the computer lab, cafeteria, gymnasium, and other classrooms as available. Outdoor activities will take place on school playing fields. Transportation Parent pick-up must take place no later than 5:45 p.m. There will be no staff supervision after that time. Staff is prohibited from transporting participants in private vehicles. All school sign out procedures apply. Students will only be released to a parent/guardian or authorized person with parent authorization in writing or by phone. Students will only be released without parent before 5:45 pm with parent authorization in writing or by phone. Enrollment & Attendance Requirements The after school program is fee based and voluntary. Daily sign in and sign out is required. If parents would like students to have the option to sign out and leave the program before 5:45 p.m., written permission to do so is mandatory. A “Child Pick Up/Release” form is required for any person other than the immediate parents/guardians to pick a student up. Once a student signs out, they will not be readmitted to the program for the afternoon. Staff to student ratio is maintained at a ratio up to 1: 25 depending on student needs. Program participants are expected to adhere to the rules in force during the school day. This includes any rules regarding attire and dress codes, language, respect for authority, and being in the appropriate area of the school facility. Violations of the student code of conduct may result in dismissal from the after school program, as well as the corresponding school related discipline consequences. Staffing Leaders in the after school program will be employees of the BDCHS. The Program Supervisors will interact daily with school administrators and student participants. Their primary role is to supervise students and maintain a cooperative program atmosphere. At times, this may include addressing behavioral issues and resolving concerns. The Site Supervisor will be happy to meet with parents to discuss issues or accept suggestions Fees This proposed program will be $40 per week or $10 a day and must be paid one week in advance by check or Money Order. If payments are not made on-time, the child will not be able to attend the program. Emergencies/Illness Parents and/or guardians will be notified of all medical emergencies. If the parent cannot be reached, the instructor will take proper necessary action.
