BRITISH JUDO | World Class Performance Programme : 2016 Cadet Identification Jan 2016 ______________________________________________________________________________ Cadet Identification Policy The purpose of this document is to detail the process to be identified for the GB Cadet Futures squad in line with the GB Cadet strategy that has been developed in conjunction and supported by all four Home Nations. 1. GB Cadet Annual programme In order to prepare players with high technical levels and the desired attitude and behaviours to perform in Junior and Senior age groups, British Judo will invest in a 'Futures' programme that will take a team of 10 Cadet players and 3 coaches to Japan on an annual basis. 2. Cadet Age group focus i) Develop technical proficiency in the Trademarks: Throw for Ippon & Win in Newaza. ii) Develop professional performance behaviours for Junior & Senior success. 3. Player Identification In order to be identified for the GB Futures programme players will be considered against the below criteria (rated in order of importance and weighting): Priority 1 2 3

Identification factors: 

A player’s best five ‘Technical Performance’ events will be considered.



If a player moves up a weight category during the identification period they may only transfer their best three ‘Technical Performance’ events.



Players who move down a weight category during the identification period will not transfer any ‘Technical Performance’ events.



Each Ippon score will carry the following rating: 10 pts



Maximum points available = 200 pts

3.3 Performance Behaviours In order to perform at the highest level, talented players need to be able to display performance related behaviours alongside an excellent technical foundation. Home Nation Cadet leads will evaluate players against the Performance Behaviour criteria in training camps and identified competitions. Identification factors: 

A player’s performance behaviours will be monitored by the Home Nation Cadet leads throughout the identification period.



Performance behaviours and its rating is a subjective element of the identification policy, but an essential part of a players development and in performance sport.



Performance behaviours will be finalised after each GB Trademark Development Camp and used as the final component for selection to: European Cadet Championships and GB Cadet Futures Japan training camp.



Maximum points available = 120pts

4.0 GB Trademark Development Camps Two GB Trademark Development Camps will be held annually at the British Judo Centre of Excellence, in May and July, to support the technical development of Cadet players in the two highlighted ‘Trademarks’. British Judo will invite the top 5 players in each Cadet weight category according to their Technical Performance and Competition results. The Great Britain team for the European Cadet Championship team will be identified after the first camp (May). The GB Cadet Futures squad will be identified after the second camp (August).
