CALL FOR PAPERS

The International Conference on Materials in Jordan 4 - 6 March 2009 German-Jordanian University The aims of the conference are to: 1- Present information to shed light on the importance of materials in Jordan, their importance, value, concentrations, areas of presence, work carried on, cooperation and joint efforts. 2- Create a map for the materials in Jordan 3- Create a reference and advisory scientific team that would advise on materials in Jordan in terms of scientific data and best utilization. 4- Make best use of modern techniques used in materials testing through a network of scientific excellence The conference is organized by Jordanian Club of Humboldt Fellows (JCHF) In cooperation with the German-Jordanian University (GJU) and Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) and will be hosted by the German-Jordanian University.

THEMATIC AREAS The papers or posters must refer to one of the following thematic areas:

1. Nuclear Materials: • Uranium • Thorium • Related Materials (Vanadium, Zirconium) 2. Natural Applied Materials: • Oil Shale • Copper • Manganese • Industrial Rocks (Zeolites, Zeolitic Tuff, Clays and Clay Minerals, Limestone, Glass Sand) 3. Dead Sea Materials: • Chemicals and Minerals • Black Mud 4. Electronic Materials: • Silicon • Hafnium

Abstract and Poster Submission

Requirements to be met for abstract or poster submission: 1. Abstracts or posters must be submitted before 5th February 2009, and should include the following information: a) Author’s name; b) title of paper or poster; c) e-mail address; d) telephone number and fax number e) institution name and full postal address; f) abstract (500 words maximum) or posters; g) thematic area. 2. Each proposed abstract and/or poster will be assessed by a scientific committee whose decision will be passed on to the authors as soon as possible, and not later than 15th February 2009. Those interested in obtaining a certificate to support their application for travel aid from their respective institutions should contact the Seminar organizers at: [email protected] or [email protected]

3. The accepted abstracts of those authors who have registered for the Conference will be published and will be available at the meeting. 4. Abstracts or posters should be written in English. Full Paper Submission In order to be included in the conference proceedings which will be published after the conference, a full version of the paper should be sent electronically to zalsaad@ gmail.com or [email protected] no later than 15th April 2009. All papers will be peer reviewed before publication.

Papers Presentation The organisation committee will establish the time and place in which each paper will be presented, and will include it in the official programme. The time allotted to each participant will be 15 minutes. It will be possible to use PowerPoint for presentations. Academics wishing to use PowerPoint must provide the organising Committee with an electronic copy of their presentation prior to the start of the session.
