VISITOR EXPERIENCE INTERPRETER POSITION REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: Facilitate visitor engagement, connecting visitors to CTM’s collections and encouraging visitors to explore & discover. Provide formal and informal interactive learning opportunities that create meaning and relevance to audiences of all ages. Adhere to CTM policies and procedures while facilitating a safe, positive, and engaging experience for museum visitors during regular visitation, public programming, and private events. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 1. The position of Museum Interpreter is a part time, non-exempt, at will position; your availability from March-December is expected unless otherwise authorized by the Manager of Visitor Experience. You must be able to attend all mandatory training sessions, both prior to opening and throughout the season, unless otherwise authorized. 2. Must have exceptional customer service skills & excellent communication skills. Experience in an educational or history field is helpful but not required. 3. Must be comfortable learning, interpreting CTM’s history and enjoy contact with the public, including children and families. 4. Responsible for learning formal and informal programs for audiences of all ages and for presenting these programs as scheduled throughout the open season. This includes hands-on activities and daily guided tours and Birthday Parties. Requires willingness to work with children and work outdoors, including during uncomfortable weather or conditions. 5. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and be on your feet for extended periods of time. 6. Under the Interpreter position, you will be working in locations on CTM’s grounds that call for specific requirements and expertise: a. To operate the trolleys, you must be at least 18 years of age and attend the certification training to operate a trolley. 7. Weekday and weekend hours between 9am-5pm and occasional evening hours may be required.
