Sponsorship, Exhibition & Advertising Opportunities The New Zealand Psychological Society is the largest professional association for psychologists in New Zealand with over 1700 members and students. Our aim is to “improve individual and community wellbeing by representing, promoting and advancing the scientific discipline and practice of psychology”. The theme of this year’s conference is “the science & art of psychology in Aotearoa New Zealand”. Psychology is devoted to the understanding of the human mind and behavior through rigorous scientific experimentation. The practice of psychology as a professional discipline is more than simply the implementation of proven scientific techniques. Psychology is also an art where professional experience, manner of delivery, empathic relating, and sound judgement form the basis of practice. Presenters at the conference include: Michael Corballis– Emeritus Professor of Psychology at The University of Auckland. He has worked primarily on perception, memory, imagination, brain asymmetry, and language. In 1998 he received an honorary LLD from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and in 2002 was created Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for contributions to psychological science.
