Alexander’s Restaurant 6457 Bluebonnet Blvd We will meet at the restaurant to simply enjoy a great lunch and great company ▪ 11:00 am RSVP REQUIRED September 10 (Thursday): GET GO’ing Pennington Bio Research Facility Tour 6400 Perkins Rd We will be given a tour of the facility and discuss the new research being offered by the facility. Meet at the research center for 9:00 am. RSVP REQUIRED September 15 (Tuesday): ROAD TRIP Atchafalaya Basin Tour / West Baton Rouge Museum $65.00 per Person Depart from Ochsner Plaza II: 8:00 am Return Time: 5:00 pm Atchafalaya Welcome Center: Our first stop will be at the welcome center and we will have the opportunity to view a short video on the Atchafalaya Basin. McGee’s Landing: Aboard the sightseeing boat, our trip will take us into the interior of one of America’s greatest river swamps. We will see and learn what it is like to live on a house boat or stilt house and live off the land…and view the local indigenous plants and wildlife as the tour progresses. The cypress trees, Spanish moss, hundreds of Japanese water lilies that cover the surface of the water giving the illusion of solid ground and abundant of wild life will await us. McGee’s Café: A long time local favorite. Menu Choices: Fried Shrimp or Fried Catfish both served with Corn Manqué Choux and Gator Tators Grilled Catfish or Grilled Chicken Breast served with Corn Manqué Choux and Potato Salad Syrup Cake or Bread Pudding West Baton Rouge Museum: We will stop in Port Allen to visit the museum. September 24 (Thursday): MOVIE REVIEW: “Everest” 6040 Hatteras Avenue AMC Theater GO members will meet at the theater at 9:30am $5.00 per person - admission $4.00 per person – small drink, small popcorn & fruitie tootie snack The movie is based on the real events of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. It will focus on the summit and survival attempts of two expedition groups, the one led by Scott Fischer (played by Gyllenhaal), and the one led by Rob Hall (played by Clarke). RSVP REQUIRED

Day 1: Depart in a spacious, video and restroom equipped motor coach and head out for beautiful Callaway Gardens. Along the way, we will enjoy lunch along the way at the Piccadilly Restaurant in Mobile (on your own). That afternoon we check into the Mountain Creek Inn on the grounds of the Gardens and enjoy a dinner buffet, followed by a relaxing evening. Day 2: Enjoy a hot breakfast at the Inn, followed with a guided tour of such beautiful sights as the Butterfly Center, Birds of Prey show and Sibley Horticultural Center. Along the way to the capitol of the Peach State, Atlanta, we will enjoy a buffet lunch at the Bulloch House followed by a tour of FDR’s Little White House in Warm Springs, GA. Before checking into our hotel, we will dine at No Mas!, which combines the Cantina Restaurant, serving classic Mexican favorites & house specialties, and the Hacienda Showroom, an amazing collection of artistic creations from over 350 artisans in Mexico… all under one roof. Overnight reservations have been made at the Fairfield Inn Atlanta Airport South for our 2 night Atlanta stay. Day 3: After breakfast at our hotel, we will visit the Atlanta Historic Center, to experience one of the South’s most engaging history centers. While there, we will have lunch at the Swan Coach House, then continue our tour of the Smith Family Farm and Swan House. Our stay in Atlanta would not be complete without visiting the home of Margaret Mitchell, author of “Gone with the Wind”, followed by dinner at Pitty Pats Porch. Day 4: Our first stop after breakfast is the World of Coca Cola, followed by lunch at Mary Mac’s Tea House, a popular restaurant of the locals. Our next location is the Carter Presidential Library and Museum before leaving Atlanta and heading home. Dinner (on your own) at Cracker Barrel along the way to Montgomery, Alabama, that evening for our overnight stay at the Courtyard Marriott. Day 5: The next morning we check out of our hotel after breakfast and begin our journey home, stopping for lunch (on your own) in Saraland, Alabama at the famous Wintzell’s Oyster House.
