O P E N I N G FOR 2018-2019 AT PARKROSE HIGH SCHOOL POSITION: Head Girls Basketball Coach – High School SALARY: $6027.45 – Season (Nov-Feb) – The certified collective bargaining agreement determines the pay scale for extra duty positions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Provide a positive learning environment and be a positive role model for the athletes.  Teach the skills necessary for successful performance.  Manage athlete behavior during training sessions, meets and events.  Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.  Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and School Board Policies.  Attend all meetings and events scheduled for the sport, including coaches’ meetings.  Work with students from various backgrounds and abilities.  Responsible for coaches (including head coach) being OSAA and District eligible. QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:  Successful coaching experience at the Varsity, club, or college level.  Current with new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques in basketball by reviewing publications and attendance at clinics; encouraging his/her assistant coaches to do the same.  Responsible for promoting designated sport throughout the School District and community in a positive and responsible manner. REQUIREMENTS:  Experience with high school students and the sport/activity.  Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the idea of developing the athlete’s greatest potential.  Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner.  Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.  Assure that building regulations are understood and enforced.  Assist in systematic return and inventory of school equipment.  Report fines for damaged or non-returned equipment to the Athletic Director.  Recommend equipment purchases or repairs to Athletic Director as needed.  Recommend care, maintenance, additions or improvements of designated facility to Athletic Director  Direct a successful grade 9-12 basketball program  Provide a clear direction, goals and objections for program success  Develop and implement an off season program for athletes  Ability to communicate effectively with parents, administration, players and staff  Verification of identity and prior employment 
