Expertise Ms. Hoda Harb is the Advisor to various international development organizations as of March 2018. She has extensive experience in international relations, aid, development and communications with progressive involvement in evidence-based policy research, action research and advocacy, research management and participatory methodologies, in addition to research communications in developing countries contexts. With experience in multiple countries of the world as well as the Middle East & North Africa (MENA), her main work domain have included; agriculture & environment, socio-economic and political policies of inclusion, technologies and innovation for development, foreign aid environment, corporate social responsibility, evolving philanthropy in Middle East and Gulf regions as well as gender & health issues. As the Regional Coordinator at the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) - Berlin, Ms. Harb was responsible for setting up the operations of AGYA i n the region. Being the focal point, she coordinated its activities along AGYA members, its Steering Committee, Berlin Office and other regional offices. Duties also included heading up the office based in Cairo, establishing ties of collaboration and partnerships among major stakeholders in the field, as well as promoting AGYA's annual call for membership among other activities. report) comprising a list of key potential collaboration partner s at national and regional levels as well as the Mapping report on Arab-German cooperation landscape; a comprehensive Outreach Strategy and Promotion Activities Plan 2017; creation of a database of relevant academic contacts for AGYA in the Arab World at l arge. During her tenure at IDRC-Canada, with responsibilities for the Centre's Communication, Donor Partnerships and Resource Mobilization departments' policies, Ms. Harb contributed to some regional consultations - latest was the regional office’s input to IDRC’s Corporate Strategic Plan 2015 -2020 entitled “Research-fordevelopment (R4D) in the Arab World: IDRC Regional Consultation towards 2020”. She has also introduced, developed and managed the regional office’s first platform for public debate activi ties named "Development Debate Series–DDS"; developed MERO's communication strategy 2010-2015 as well as outreach activities such as MERO Open Days spanning major universities and research institutions in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, etc. Prior to that, working as Programs Officer at IFES, Egypt Field Office, she assisted in the execution and implementation of programs related to Democracy and Governance in Egypt. Ms. Harb also served as an International Relations Specialist at the Egyptian Cabinet where she was in charge of the American and European portfolios. Among the major files assigned was Egypt's Observer -ship in the Public Governance Committee (PGC), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development – OECD where Egypt became a member in the aforementioned committee in September 2008. At the early stage of her academic and research career, Ms. Harb taught courses on comparative politics & political systems, International Relations and development at both Cairo University and the American University in Cairo and she had some publications in relevant periodicals and media outlet.
