VTPBiS Intensive Level: Wraparound Overview Training for PBIS Supervisory Union and School Level Teams Friday, May 11, 2012, 8:30 – 3:30 (registration 8:30 – 9:00) Lake Morey Inn, Fairlee, VT The intensive level of VTPBiS is designed to provide a continuum of individualized, comprehensive, and team-based interventions for students with complex issues whose needs have not been adequately addressed with less intensive PBIS interventions at the Universal and Targeted levels. Wraparound is considered the most intensive team-based process using strengths-based assessment and planning and team coordination to achieve positive social and behavioral (and ultimately academic) outcomes for students at risk of school failure and struggling in other major life activities. This overview is a pre-requisite activity for participation in PBIS Intensive Level Wraparound training at the BEST Summer Institute. Prerequisites for Attending the Overview: o Your school has participated in the PBIS Targeted training and is currently implementing PBIS at the Targeted Level; o Your school achieved a score of 80/80 on the SET and/or 70 on the Benchmarks of Quality (BOQ); o You can attend with a leadership team supervisory union / district and school representatives including a SU level administrator, special education administrator, school principals, SU Intensive level coordinator, behavior specialist/clinician, mental health agency representative, regular education teacher, and a family member. Training Objectives: o Review PBIS within the context of Response to Intervention (RtI) approach; o Explore continuum of practices supporting students at the Targeted and Intensive Levels; o Examine the recommended systems needed at the SU/district and school levels to support effective implementation; o Understand data sources needed for planning and progress monitoring for PBIS implementation at Targeted and Intensive levels; o Complete the VTPBiS Intensive Readiness Checklist and Benchmarks of Advanced Tiers (BAT) to assess your current implementation of systems, data, and practices related to the PBIS implementation at the Targeted and Intensive levels; o Plan your next steps for PBIS at the Intensive Level for wraparound at SU/district and school levels.
