Dear Parents / Carers Please find overleaf Wellfield’s programme of extra-curricular activities for the autumn term. I am delighted to announce that we have more extra-curricular opportunities than ever before. Staff will keep an attendance register for all after school activities. Duke of Edinburgh Award: Wellfield has been given Duke of Edinburgh Licensed Centre status and can now independently deliver the award scheme for our students who are aged 14 and over. Mr Adams (Pastoral Manager Y9 and10) will be leading on this with other staff in school. The Duke of Edinburgh award is highly valued by employers beyond the academic qualifications as it demonstrates individual resilience, commitment and self-discipline. I am exceptionally pleased due to the amount of work that it has taken to achieve this recognised status for Wellfield and the wider life opportunities that it will offer our students in the future. More information will follow soon. Year 11 Support: To support academic achievement in Year 11 attendance for some students at the after school study sessions is compulsory. Students who are expected to be involved in these will be informed and this may vary during the year according to the bespoke support identified by the teachers. I ask for parents to support us with these sessions and this may mean some students have to make sacrifices to achieve their best. Attendance at these sessions makes the difference to our students’ final grades. I hope all students will find the opportunity to join in with at least one activity during the year. If you have any questions about the activities please do not hesitate to contact the school. Yours sincerely

Mr P Tolson Headteacher
