Jeffrey N. Bernstein, MD

Voluntary Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine Department Of Pediatrics Division of Emergency Medicine Florida Poison and Drug Information Center Dr. Bernstein is a voluntary Associate Professor for the University of Miami Department of Pediatrics and Medicine. He holds several other clinical leadership roles; he is the Medical Director for the Florida Poison and Drug Information Center in Miami, Florida, Medical Director for the National Marine Envenomation Hotline, and Medical Director for the Florida State Teratogen Information Service and is an Emergency Medicine Attending physician in the Emergency Department at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Bernstein is Board certified in Medical Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology and Emergency Medicine. He completed his Medical Schooling at the Emergency Medicine Foundation/Eli Lilly & Company Research Fellowship in Medical Toxicology, NIH Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Toxicology and Emergency Medicine Residency all at the University of Arizona - University Medical Center, Tucson, Arizona. He also attended Rutgers Medical School - University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, Camden, New Jersey where he received is Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Bernstein’s expertise led to his appearances in countless books, monographs, journal articles, publications and Abstracts. He has also written the Challenger Toxicology (computer program) for (Toxicology) Challenger Corporation with approximately 450 questions with explanations, 22 hours CME given by University of Miami School of Medicine. He has also written the Florida Regional Common EMS protocols second edition: Toxicology/Hazardous Materials Exposure, Jones and Bartlett Publishers, 2011 and has numerous editorial responsibilities. Dr. Bernstein has given presentations, held grand rounds and chaired committees related to Hazardous Material Response, Medical Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology and Emergency Medicine. He also teaches the University of Miami medical student in toxicology as well as pharmacy students, ER residents and ER fellows from other institutions and is responsible for the content and supervision of the Florida Poison Information Center/Miami educational outreach program. He is also often used for media interviews on behalf of Jackson Health Systems, the University of Miami and the Florida Poison Information Center – Miami.
