If you are an avid movie fan you will recognize the spiralling number of movies and dramas out of Hollywood which have focused on the UFO phenomena. This edition thus focuses on the Christian and biblical perspective. This may sound like finality in terms of what the position is but even within mainstream Christianity there is confusion and a difference of opinion on how to approach the subject of extra terrestrial activity. This edition will hopefully open your eyes to the debate and highlight some of the key areas that cause Christians to both agree and then disagree. The Christian world view is very important because it provides a counter balance argument against the ideas proposed by the likes of Erich Von Daniken and Zeitgeist that human beings are the product of an ancient alien civilisation known as the anunnaki that created us and then left the earth many hundreds of thousands of years ago. Other mysterious clouds associated with God and His faithful angels are mentioned throughout scripture, such as the clouds of heaven, (Daniel 7:13; Matthew 24:29-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 11:12), the clouds of glory present during Moses’ meetings with God on mount Sinai, the tent of meeting, and with Jesus at the mount of transfiguration, (Exodus 16:10, 24:16, 40:34-35; Numbers 16:42; 1 Kings 8:11; 2 Chronicles 5:14; Isaiah 4:5; Ezekiel 1:28, 10:4; Matthew 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 21:27), and the cloud to which Jesus entered when departing the Earth, (Acts 1:9).

Author John Milor also points out that God’s faithful angels are specifically mentioned in scripture as observing, helping, and learning about salvation from humanity because salvation is something the angels must learn about from observation rather than personal experiences. Because of this, many UFOs/ extraterrestrials come to Earth for these reasons, and in some cases, even infiltrate human society on occasion, (Hebrews 13:2).

The topic of cosmic salvation is also discussed in Colossians 1:20 Milor’s book, Aliens and the Antichrist. Hebrews 2:16–18 indicates that salvation is not for angels, (which are defined in the bible as non-reproductive immortal beings of the highest order), but for the descendants of Abraham. However, Galatians 3:26-29 states that the descendants of Abraham are those who belong to Christ, which does not limit them to any particular genetic disposition, or species. Therefore if there are beings in the heavens (i.e. outer space), that are not angels then certain scriptures that speak of salvation may actually pertain to them.
These scriptures include Acts 2:39; Colossians 1:20; Ephesians 3:10, and Milor believes that the universe may very well be a mission field that Jesus was referring to when He spoke of reaching sheep from another fold, (John 10:16). Acts 2:39

Baal is identified as Satan by Jesus himself, Matt.10:25 Mark. 3:22 Luke 11:15. Paul says we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers, with spirits in high places, literally, "in the heavens" "in the aerial regions" Eph.6:12. Hence Satan is called "the prince of the Power of the Air" "the prince of the aerial host" Eph.2:2. Imagine the confederation of rebellious angels seated in the atmospheric heaven in the spaces above and around our planet. This fundamental of scripture contradicts many traditional concepts of "hell" as the domain of the devil and his minions... the popular notion of "satan ruling the underworld" is not found in the Bible. VIDEO TO THE RIGHT: is one of many sightings of UFOs documented by NASA ' s cameras on the space shuttle. Notice how many objects are "flitting to and fro" and journeying through Earth's atmosphere, changing direction and speed at will, as if intelligently controlled and not mere "space debris". While the New Testament uses the Greek word "demon" to refer to these "sons of the mighty", the Old Testament uses revealing descriptive names. Words which describe these beings, such as b'nai Elohim meaning "sons of God", Zophim meaning "the watchers", and Malakh meaning "messengers", (this reference was translated angel in English), are used for the "aerial host" often regardless of alignment. The Book of Enoch tells us the origin of certain "interdimensional intelligences" -- called in the monotheistic New Testament "demons", who were understandably associated with evil because originally the Greek term diamon meant "any deity" -- was in the Days of Noah, and didn't end with the Flood but continued according to Genesis 6, "even after". There are three main terms for demons in the New Testament: daimonion (demon; 60 times, 50 in the Gospels); pneuma (spirit; some 52 times) usually with a qualifying adjective such as akatharton (unclean; 21 times) or poneron (evil; 8 times); and angelos (7 times of demonic agencies). Daimon (demon), the term commonly used in classical Greek, appears only once (Mark 8:31) (From Baker's Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology - Walter A. Elwell (Ed)) Jesus Christ explained to His apostles what events would immediately precede His second coming, "It shall be exactly as in the days before Noah entered the ark". Matt 24:38 , Luke 17:27. What is the significance of this statement and how does it relate to Ufos? The Flood epic Gen. 6 begins with a strange account of the "sons of God" (b'nai Elohim), taking wives from among the daughters of Adam. "In those days giants [nephilim] were in the earth, the men of renown of whom ancient tales are told". The word which is translated, "giants", in the King James version of the Bible is, in Hebrew, "Nephilim", which means, "Those who fell, or ... the fallen ones". Jude, the brother of Jesus describes them as "angels, having left their first estate in heaven". These fallen angels came to earth for their own purposes, to interfere in the development of human civilization.

Aleister Crowley was a noted occultist who styled himself The Beast 666 (albeit as a fashion statement). A key member in several hermetic brotherhoods, Crowley wrote "How-To" guides on magick and contacting angels. Crowley was in contact with higher intelligences, writing "The Book of the Law" in Cairo in 1904 at the behest of a being called Aiwass. The being's name is intriguingly similar to Egyptian Antiquities expert Zahi Hawass, both derived from Horus. It was Crowley's goal through ritual magick and contact with nonhuman intelligent beings [angels or aliens] to bring to fruition the New Aeon of Horus. In 1919 Crowley drew a picture of an "extra-terrestrial" Intelligence with whom he was in astral contact, named Lam. This drawing of Lam -- which looks tellingly like a classic "grey alien" -- appeared in an exhibition held in Greenwich Village, New York, 1919. "Throughout most of history, the manifestations of demonology and demonopathy have been viewed from a religious perspective and explained as the work of the Devil. The bizarre manipulation and ill effects described in the demonological literature are usually regarded as the results of a great unseen conflict between God and the Devil. In UFO lore, the same conflict has been observed and the believers have explained it as a space war between the "Guardians" (good guys from outer space), who are protecting our planet, and some evil extraterrestrial race. The manifestations are the same, only the reference is different. Did ancient man misinterpret UFO manifestations by placing them in religious context? Apparently not. The literature indicates that the phenomenon carefully cultivated the religious frame of reference in early times, just as the modern manifestations have carefully supported the extraterrestrial frame of reference. Operation Trojan Horse is merely the same old game in a new, updated guise. The Devil's emissaries of yesteryear have been replaced by mysterious "men in black." The quasi-angels of Biblical times have become magnificent spacemen. The demons, devils, and false angels were recognized as liars and plunderers by early man. There are many different kinds of angels. In the Bible there are both encounters with Godly angels doing His will, and encounters with rebellious angels who seek to lead mankind astray and undermine God's credibility. Since God's angels manifest in miraculous ways, it is no surprise that the angels who "do their own thing" manifest in miraculous ways as well. One might ask, "if rebel angels can imitate Godly miracles, how can one tell if angels are of God or rebellious? Couldn't they all be the same?" This is the confusion satan's minions have always sown. Keel, Sitchen, and many alternative UFOlogists fail to realize the very obvious distinction between God's angelic messengers and the deceptive manifestations of fallen angels. God's messengers always acted within the confines of God's Word, that is, their actions and the results of their actions were always Biblically, Lawfully, consistent. The results of interaction with an angel of God left the visitee with no doubts about the Biblical God, nor His revealed Word. In contrast, contact with "angelic" aliens and occult entities casts doubt on the validity of the Bible and leaves confusion concerning God's identity. Godly angelic encounters always gave glory to God and confirmed His Word, while deceptive angelic encounters, occult manifestations and aliens, lead humans away from God into increased occultism, self-deification, selfactualization, human potential, and a complete disregard for the validity of the Bible.
Rebel angels can take on any form they please, even appearing as angels of light. The deceptive rebel angels often appear to humans in SEEMINGLY benign guises: as the enlightening angel to Mohammed, as the angel Moroni to Joseph Smith, in disguise as the Virgin Mary in apparitions, and disguised as Enlightening Alien Space Brothers. In 1917 an amazing event occurred in the small town of Fatima, Portugal. It involved three children seeing what they described as an apparition of Mary. At first they were met with scepticism, but later, as the visits from the apparition continued, the local church authorities and the people of the village came to believe what the children had claimed. The apparition would visit the children on the thirteenth day of each month. This continued for almost a year. At one point the church authorities asked for a sign, something that would clarify, once and for all, what the visionaries were reportedly seeing. As a result, the apparition told the children that she would appear on the thirteenth of October the following month--and that there would be a sign for all to see. On October13, 1917, approximately seventy thousand people gathered in and around the site where the children had claimed to see the apparition. It was raining, and a sea of black

Was the miracle of the sun indeed a miracle, as some believe today, or was this a harbinger of something malevolent, a portent of an ominous future event? JOSE DE ALMEIDA GARRETT (Lawyer). Moments before, the sun had broken overhead through a dense layer of clouds that would have [otherwise] hidden it, [allowing it] to shine clearly and intensely. I turned toward that magnet that attracted the every gaze, and I could see that it was similar to a disk with a distinct and lively border, luminous and lucent, but harmless. The sun uncovered itself and had a strange light able to be gazed at, like a full moon, passed through diverse gradations, appearing sometimes like a solar globe enclosed by an aureole of flames, and other times a metallic disk as if of silver. In a radiant sky, the sun could be looked at straight on and with eyes wide open, without blinking, as if we were looking at a disk of polished glass, illuminated from behind, with a rainbow of iridescence on its periphery, seeming to have a rotating movement and the sun did not have the brilliance that hurt our eyes on normal days, as it was a majestic disk, magnetic, which attracted us and sort of revolved in the immense sky. It was like a disk of steamed-up crystal that had been illuminated from behind, a disk of opaque glass.

We saw a silver veil, rounded in shape, as if it were a full moon screams could be heard from every quarter when what appeared to be a form that was white as snow, brilliant, and that did not hurt the retina, appeared to emanate from the sun, and come toward us. There are more quotes from eyewitnesses that could be cited, but I believe the point has been made that what transpired on that day was not the actual sun itself descending over the crowd, but rather, it was something else something that witnesses described as a disk-like object. Being as such, one might ask why the witnesses did not categorize this disk like object as a UFO. One must remember that in 1917 there was no television with shows, such as the X-Files, that have inundated an entire generation on the topic of UFOs. Additionally, it would be decades before the movie Close Encounters Of The Third Kind would be shown in theatres, which also provided the necessary framework within which more recent generations have been exposed to the subject of the UFO phenomenon. Therefore, the witnesses at Fatima in 1917 had no previous experiences from which to draw. No frame of reference to describe the object they had observed.. I believe that if this event had happened, let us say in the late 90s, with many frame of references in place, most witnesses would have labeled the event as a UFO sighting. And what if this event was just that? If I may, I would like to ask you to mentally transport yourself back to 1917, to the rain soaked field in the village of Fatima. You are standing shoulder-to shoulder with a throng of curious onlookers, when suddenly, you see the sky part and a disk of dull silver appears overhead. You have never seen anything like it. And when it is gone, you realize miracles have occurred all around you. Would your worldview be changed? Would witnessing such an unreal event shake you to the core of your being? Would you believe the phenomenon to be a benevolent manifestation of the supernatural? Or would you suspect the work of Satan to be at play? What litmus test would you use to determine whether what you had experienced was, in fact, benevolent, as some of the witnesses from Fatima believed? Now with all respect to those who are Catholics and believe that at Fatima was indeed the appearance of the Virgin Mary, let me say that I am not anti-Catholic and do not wish to offend; however, I do not agree with the Catholic churches position regarding the apparition. In order to sort through occurrences such as this, I believe we must rely solely on what The Bible has to say about the supernatural. The Bible provides us with a standard that we may follow, should we be wise enough to apply it, to evaluate any supernatural events that we may encounter. In Thessalonians, Paul the Apostle describes what I believe will be the events of the last days: The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and lying wonders and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing NIV, 2 Thessalonians 2.910). This passage is a warning to us. Note the part in the text that says all kinds of counterfeit miracles, sign and lying wonders. I believe that in the end times what will come upon the earth will be world changing. Every man, woman, and child will have his or her worldview shaken. If a person is not grounded in the truth of scripture and does not have a personal relationship with God through his son Yeshua, the Messiah, then he or she will believe the lie and deception that will come before him or her. I have coined this as The Great Deception. I propose that the events that transpired in Fatima were a harbinger of deception, in short, malevolent in nature. I have been researching the topic for sixteen years, and I believe these events are a portent: a type of Luciferic/demonic manifestation in the guise of UFOs that will come upon the earth in many locations, simultaneously, perhaps after a nuclear exchange in the Middle East. This will be the revealing of demons posing as extraterrestrials and will be the cause of a paradigm shift in human consciousness, a great falling away that will usher the way for the coming of the Antichrist. In conclusion, the events of Fatima are shrouded in mystery, as is the UFO phenomenon shrouded in mystery. I believe that these mysteries are a part of the end time, Luciferic agenda and, more specifically, that this agenda is one of deception. If the events that transpired at Fatima were indeed a harbinger of this coming deception, then let us all be aware.

According to Cohen The Lion symbolizes the country (England) that the Antichrist King will arise from. The Beast speaks with great authority like a ‘roaring Lion’ and a King. The Leopard symbolizes his heritage and reveals his connection to the young Alexander the Great who was also represented by the Leopard. The Dragon represents his satanic power and is the national symbol of Wales. The Bear reveals his name, Arthur. (Revelation 13:11, 14-16) However proponents of Cohen's thinking now believe that Prince William is more suited than his father to the role of World King since he was born immediately after the 666 Saros solar eclipse on a summer solstice the same year a movie, Omen 3, was released to honour the Antichrist. Some point out that as King, he would be King William V. By taking the ‘W’s as two Roman ‘V’s, it is found: I AM VI VI VI - I am 666. Vague facial similarities have been identified between Prince William and the face on the Shroud of Turin (a piece of linen cloth that is supposed to have covered the body of Christ after his crucifixion before his resurrection) and it is believed by people that William has been cloned from blood found on the Shroud of Turin. More significantly, on 16 June 2008, Prince William was inducted as 1,000th member of the Order of the Garter, an elite group of aristocratic Knights of the Illuminati who might appear to be ceremonial and irrelevant, but they are not. The Order of the Garter is the parent organization of worldwide Freemasonry and controls the core leadership of the Priory of Sion, the Knights Templar, Scottish Rite Freemasonry, the Rosicrucians and the Committee of 300. Is full UFO disclosure inevitable? Many in the UFO research community think an ultimate breakthrough is just around the corner. If past secrecy around the UFO phenomena by our government was primarily the result of Cold War politics, what good reason exists to continue to hide the truth now? Disclosure proponents believe that continuous persuasion will eventually wear down the barriers that were setup by administrations that were more paranoid. However, there may be a component of the UFO phenomena that legitimately required secrecy until our present time, some unpleasant secret that has forced our government to classify what it learned in the beginning. Perhaps the scenario for full disclosure has been from the beginning, alien planned and alien directed. A full disclosure plan of this type would arrive in the future despite any steps that humankind might take to prevent it. This might explain the long tradition of disinformation campaigns, cover-ups, and denial by our government. If extraterrestrials had forced the government to keep certain information secret, such information would have to be covered up and denied, as rule by extraterrestrial would instantly
dissolve any rule by man. Knowledge of such a “secret” might also be a force behind major events unfolding geopolitically. Steps allowing certain elite members of humanity to retain control within this framework would have to be implemented. This includes the distribution of wealth, power, and technology to groups in possession of this secret. It would also be a powerful influence behind the ultimate change to global infrastructure: war. There is evidence supporting such a claim. Bible prophecy has more to say about a future alien revelation than many researchers care to acknowledge. Though one might expect the secular camp of ufology to marginalize the research value of the Bible, many Christian theologians also refuse to examine scripture for its extraterrestrial content, fearing discredit for simply entertaining a belief in UFOs. According to many in the UFO research community, a disclosure event is near. How can we know anything with certainty until then? A solution may lie in the study of one word: “Watcher.” The name Watcher first appeared in connection with the UFO/ abduction phenomena in the book

The most politically neutral way to resolve the conflict between the ufologic and Biblical viewpoints may be an examination of ancient history for its Watcher content.
These beings communicated telepathically with Betty saying that they were the “guardians of the earth,” and that their purpose was to prepare mankind for a future series of cataclysms and “to heal man of his self destructive impulses.” They also called themselves the “Watchers,” a name that seemed to be withheld from Betty up until their message of purpose had been conveyed. Fowler continued to study this abduction case, which had begun in 1967, in subsequent books: The Andreasson Affair, Phase 2 (1982), The Watchers (1990),The Watchers II (1995), and The Andreasson Legacy (1997).
This study makes it possible to understand the nature of the modern UFO phenomena as well the timing of future disclosure. In fact, when ancient history of the Watchers is put under the light of Biblical prophecy, it becomes apparent that a future year on the modern Gregorian (watcher) calendar (Gregorian literally means “watcher” in Greek), is connected with a worldwide, alien revelation.
Though speculation remains concerning who or what the aliens are, their message to the abductee or experiencer has been consistent over the last 40 years. Many groundbreaking research books exist, such as: The earth watchers by Brian John Ford, Messengers of Deception by Dr. Jacques Valley, and Operation Trojan Horse by John Keel.
The ancient Egyptians and Sumerians left great volumes of writing concerning their religious systems and how civilization began. These texts, the oldest in history, were not deciphered until the 19th century. Mainstream historians have regarded these accounts of the beginning of knowledge and science as metaphorical. The founding myths of the Egyptian and Sumerian civilizations describe a mountain in the “land of the Watchers” that was the original point of the watchers’ descent to the earth: Mount Hermon.

The Sumerian cities Ur, Eridu, and Mari shared the Semitic root “Ir,” a word that means “Watcher.” In Akkadian and Hebrew, this same word also can be interpreted as “city.” In Egypt, the Watchers were called the “Neter.” The Akkadian word for Watcher is similar to the Egyptian word for the right eye, “Ari.” The Egyptian words “Su” and “mer” mean “the eye,” to watch over something or “to see.” In a text called the Testament of Amram, c. 200 BC, one of the few, physical descriptions of the Watchers is found: I saw Watchers in my vision, the dream-vision. Two (men) were fighting over me, saying...and holding a great contest over me. I asked them, ‘Who are you, that you are thus empowered over me?’ They answered me, ‘We have been empowered and rule over all mankind’. They said to me, ‘Which of us do you choose to rule (you)?’ I raised my eyes and looked. The most specific of the Edfu texts involved plans for building sacred “mounds” serving as templates for the resurrection of the age of the Watchers.
Before pollution and the development of the electric light, one could easily see the Milky Way against the night sky. The Milky Way is represented consistently in ancient record as a serpent with its tail in its mouth. The earliest depiction of a tail eating serpent representing our home galaxy were found in the temple of Baal in the land of the Watchers descent, Cydonia. The ancients were not purposely being obscure in
The step pyramid introduced by the Egyptian king Zoser in the Third Dynasty was an architectural realization of the primordial hill, which was then modified into the true pyramid in the Fourth Dynasty. During the Ptolemaic Period, every temple was considered to be a replica of the primeval temple, which had been built upon the primordial mound after it had emerged from Nun, the primeval waters. In ancient Sumer, the innermost sanctuary of the temple was sometimes referred to as the ‘holy mound’, and was again seen as the mound that first arose out of the primordial abyss. Similar artificial hills are found in every ancient culture, China, India, North and Central America as well as many locations now covered by ocean. In North America, the ancient inhabitants constructed hundreds of burial mounds that upon excavation revealed humanoid skeletons, some up to ten feet in height. These sites had apparently been undisturbed since the interment of the giants. In the Biblical account of the Great Flood, in Genesis the offspring of the Watchers are described as giants, mighty men of renown, similar to both Egyptian and Sumerian records of the same event. However, the mounds were more than burial sites. They represented the rising of the earth out of a global flood, as well as something else. Originally, a trench was constructed around the exterior of each mound to collect water. This circle of water represented an alignment of the Milky Way around the horizon of the earth.

The theme of preventing this celestial configuration was depicted at the Edfu temple in long series of reliefs. The priests also had a detailed guide to fighting the Milky Way serpent, a deity that they called “Apep” (the World Encircler) in the Books of Overthrowing Apep or (in Greek) the Book of Apophis. This book explains how Horus, the god of the reborn sun, fights being swallowed by the cosmic serpent daily to prevent another world cataclysm. During frequent minor battles, Apep briefly captures Horus. 18

The great Milky Way “serpent” would eventually swallow the sun and come to rest on the horizon signalling the next destruction of the earth. In this way the tail eating serpent acts as a celestial clock, showing the earth’s movement through the precession of the equinox, a 25,920-year cycle that Plato called the “Great Year.” With each quarter of the Great Year, the Milky Way Galaxy aligns with the quarter of the earth’s regular year, i.e., either an equinox or solstice. During these times, the tail eating serpent appears to encircle the entire horizon while sun rises in its mouth. Such alignments occur every 6,480 years.
The Edfu mounds represented this rare Milky Way alignment with the horizon. They were monuments on the ground reproducing the sign of doom in the heavens, created in an age decimated by worldwide cataclysm. They were made to warn future humanity. This configuration of the Milky Way is occurring now, every winter solstice, December 21st. The sun will be in closest alignment to the mouth of the tail eating serpent near the end of this decade. In addition to predicting the return of global cataclysm, the Edfu texts explain that the “World Encircler” will indicate the coming of the Watchers, as it did when they first descended to earth at Mount Hermon thousands of years ago. Just as the cosmic serpent returns from its travel in the heavens to rest on the earth, the serpentine Watchers would also descend to the earth. The alignment foretold destruction, return, knowledge, and rebirth. The information of the Edfu texts parallels the same secrets given to abductees in our time. The modern UFO/abduction phenomena seems to be in preparation for an ultimate and unavoidable event.
The most prominent Watcher symbol in the Bible is not often recognized: the dragon. In the book ofRevelation 12:3 through 12:12, the Dragon (from the Greek “Drakonai,” Watcher) casts 1/3 rd of the stars of heaven to the earth. The stars in this text have been interpreted to be the angels under his authority. The original Greek text has the Dragon throwing stars of Ouranos to the earth. Though Ouranos is the Greek word for heaven, it is also found in ancient texts as a name for the Milky Way. (In the papyrus of Ama Heroub and the zodiac of Dendera, the sky serpent Uerounus of Egypt is depicted as a snake with its tail in its mouth.) Revelation explains that the dragon is eventually thrown down to earth by the Archangel Michael during the final conflict between good and evil. The same account of the throwing down of the dragon in the New Testament is found in the Old Testament in Daniel:12: 1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. The system of “3rds” that are repeated in Revelation 12 were also incorporated in the location of the landing point of the Watchers on Mount Hermon, exactly on the 33.3 E. Mankind will arrive along with the Watchers to a common point in time, a day of judgment. Both the Biblical and historical record outline the purpose behind visitations from heavenly beings and their end plan. The Watchers will return to the earth in force during a time of unprecedented turmoil. Because the Templars considered Jesus an incarnation of the serpent in the Garden of Eden, they viewed the mystery religions and the texts of the Bible through the same Gnostic filter. From a purely secular viewpoint there is no conflict in this reasoning. Although the UFO sightings and abductions have grown over the last 60 years, the same phenomena has been taking place over several millennia. The world has many religions, each presenting some degree of virtue. In this light, an introduction of spiritually superior extraterrestrials to the earth would be of great benefit to humanity. This belief is even more common among the open minds involved in UFO research. The signs of the future return of the Watchers and the return of Jesus Christ are consistently superimposed in the mystery and knowledge religions. From a Biblical viewpoint this fact should be taken as an ominous warning.
The bible explains that Satan’s ultimate goal is the imitation of God himself. False signs, wonders and prophecy are hallmarks of end time events. All are in service of a great lie reserved for the last days — a lie that was conceived from the beginning. The greatest work of satan will be humanity’s acceptance of a counterfeit messiah and a counterfeit Kingdom of Heaven. As in ancient times, the Watchers are setting the stage for their return to the earth — as gods. The prophet Daniel himself asked the question: “When will be the end of these things?” - literally meaning “the later time” of these things. His answer: “Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end” (Daniel 12:8,9).
Perhaps we have finally arrived at the time of the end. It may be that words of Daniel’s prophecy are beginning to be unsealed. Evidence suggests that the Watchers will return at the close of the year 2012, though it is reckless to state this as absolute fact. On the other hand, to ignore the evidence is irresponsible.

He is a political activist, lobbyist, commentator, the executive director of Paradigm Research Group and the Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee (X-PPAC) and executive producer of the annual X-Conference. His work has been covered extensively by national and international media. Since 1996 Bassett has assisted numerous organizations and initiatives working to 1) raise public awareness of the both the extraterrestrial presence and the truth embargo, 2) convene open congressional hearings to take government and agency witness testimony, and 3) incite the political media to appropriately cover the attendant issues. He has appeared on hundreds of radio and television talk shows and in numerous documentaries speaking to millions of people about the implications and likelihood of "Disclosure" - the formal acknowledgement of the extraterrestrial presence by world governments. The following interview gives an insight into his recent work for the advancement for government disclosure of extraterrestrial contact. Interviewer: Stephen Bassett’s website, Paradigm Research Group, is one of the top clearinghouses for documents regarding governmental cover ups on the disclosure of UFOs and alien contact. I caught up with Stephen after nearly five years to see how disclosure is progressing and the repercussions of a government run by secrecy. Interviewer: Stephen, it’s been about five years since we last saw each other, which was in Sedona. Now we’re in California, Southern California today. And a lot has happened with your group, Paradigm Research Group, a lot has happened in the last five years, and I thought what we’d do at first is just have you catch us up on what you’re doing now, what has progressed since we last talked.
it started by my registering as a lobbyist for a number of organizations, research organizations; thus, the name Paradigm Research Group. But, in fact, it’s a political activist group. It was created for one reason only, and that is to resolve the UFO/ET question at the basic level, once and for all, through political means. Why political means? Because a scientific resolution was not possible because of the fact that the United States Government instituted a formal policy, which was well under way by the early 1950s, but it sort of started in 1947, that this issue, in fact, would be embargoed from the people. Acknowledgment would be embargoed. They would undermine research, if necessary. They would tinker with the media. They would ridicule the issue— ghettoize it, as I like to say—because they did not want the public to—how would you say involve with it—they preferred that it was left to them. It was a national security matter, and what have you. And, so, you had a direct intervention by the State in the process of learning, somewhat similar to what the Catholic Church did when they directly intervened in the process of learning the nature of the solar system—the Copernican Revolution. They have since apologized for that, which is good. This is not something religion or the State should do, even though there are short term gains. Interviewer: Right, to suppress . . ., yeah. Stephen Bassett: Stay in the “truth” business. That gives you the best results. Anyway, because of that intervention, the Truth Embargo, the citizen scientists could have proven the ET issue ten times over. It didn’t matter what they did, it didn’t matter how diligent they were in their research, it was not going to be acknowledged. The only way this issue gets resolved at the basic level is for the government to end that policy. The ending of the Truth Embargo would be the Disclosure Event. Interviewer: Right.
Stephen Bassett: Which is a goal of the political activism. It is the goal that the Paradigm Research Stephen Bassett: OK. It is good to be back with you. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: So, I tend to follow it. So, I happen to know that there was some coverage of that event. It was not . . .
Interviewer: But, you were there.
Interviewer: Miniscule compared to what it could have been.
Stephen Bassett: And I was there, in Arizona.
Stephen Bassett: Well, it wasn’t appropriate.
Interviewer: And I was there, too, and that’s where we first met, yes.
Interviewer: Yes.
Stephen Bassett: Yes, that’s right. I’ve been to every one of the press conferences held there. Interviewer: But the point is that was a really pivotal opportunity.
Stephen Bassett: But there were a number of articles. But it was 2001 and the media, which is now turning our way, which is coming around to our side, was in the early stages of that, and so it—I can assure you that same event, today, would get far more coverage. Interviewer: Yes.
Stephen Bassett: It was an opportunity. It was a more powerful event in this process that we’ve been following. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And, as I’ve stated many times, could well have had a fairly dramatic impact, were it not for 9/11. That event, which was only four months later, essentially eliminated any of the potentials from that witness press conference. The threads were not followed up. The media went elsewhere and it was significant setback to the disclosure process. Interviewer: Well, what struck me about it was that room was full. There was media from all over the world, and there were virtually no reports that made the airwaves in the United States, just a couple stations. It did make the airwaves in other countries, but again, this thing you’re talking about—the Truth Embargo—I remember one of the journalists I think it was the local ABC affiliate stood up at that time and said, “We’re not allowed to put this stuff on. I’ll tell you; it’s not like it’s the first time we’ve heard about it. And, I remember he was so impassioned he was actually angry when he was talking about the fact that they’re not allowed to. And I thought what are you doing here with a camera?
Stephen Bassett: But there were things going on behind the scenes, including ABC News was seriously considering investigating a number of those witnesses, interviewing them and bringing them on. But the fact was that 9/11 ended that thread and set the movement back at least two years. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And in the following year I know Steven Greer’s disclosure project, he started to move in a somewhat different direction; he started exploring the alternative energy issues very intensely. Interviewer: Yes, technologies. Stephen Bassett: I—my next move was to run for Congress in 2002, which I started early that year. So, about three or four months later my way of sort of getting back in the saddle was to run for Congress, because I saw an opportunity to get on the ballot in the eighth congressional district of Maryland, right next to Washington. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: It . . . I pay a lot closer attention to these kind of events and what the media does. In fact, P.R.G., one of its key functions is tracking the mainstream media coverage of this issue.
Stephen Bassett: And, so, we’re picking up the activism. Other groups are doing their thing, and we move forward from 2001. Now, we interviewed (first CMN interview) in 2005, four years later.
Interviewer: Yeah.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: And at the website, Paradigm Research Group, you will see the largest mainstream media archive in the world, which is now over 5,000 articles of mainstream coverage of the UFO issue.
Stephen Bassett: And definitely I was seeing a significant change in media coverage, and we were starting to see the full-fledged involvement of other countries.

This starts around 2004; this is a very important development. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. France and a few others; didn’t they start declassifying documents and . . .?
Stephen Bassett: And what is happening here is by doing this these nations are doing two things: One, they are kind of getting on the right side of the issue, meaning we’re releasing our files proactively. We’re opening up, as it were. Now, they’re not releasing what you call “smoking guns.” Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: Yeah, yes. What—it begins in late 1999, when a French group called COMETA released the COMETA Report, which concluded that the extraterrestrial hypothesis was the only way to explain this phenomenon. This was a message, I pretty sure, from the French Government, through a non-governmental entity, to us; “Get on with it!”
Stephen Bassett: Most of those countries have such evidence. Typically, it would be in the form of gun camera footage from they’re chase planes in their defense Air Force systems, where they go up and they chase these things and they film them.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm, right.
Stephen Bassett: That they don’t release, but they’re releasing files that clearly are stimulating the issue. They are being downloaded all over the world, millions and millions of downloads of these files have taken place. So, they are now accumulating in servers all over the world. And the other thing they are doing is sending a message to the United States, look; we sort of had this understanding with you that goes back to the early ‘50s that we would wait for you to decide when it was safe to tell the world about the extraterrestrials. Well, we’re getting impatient. The Cold War’s been over, what, 9, 10, 12, 15 years? And, you haven’t done anything, yet. And, so, this is a message they’re sending, in my view, and other things are happening. There has been a very significant change in the amount of coverage of this issue in China.
Stephen Bassett: And then four years later Mexico announces it’s cooperating with UFO researchers and releases some information; Brazil announces it’s cooperating—this is through their Air Force—starts releasing their files, and then France announces it’s going to release its files. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And, so, every year after 2004, every year we have another country coming forward and starting to release its “UFO” files. Interviewer: Who are some of the recent ones since 2005? Stephen Bassett: Well, you had France, the UK . . . Interviewer: The UK, right.
Stephen Bassett: Canada. Interviewer: Canada, mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: There has always been sightings in China, but suddenly they’re being covered in the media, there, and then that coverage is getting out into the English-language press. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: Denmark, Sweden, Uruguay, Brazil; Russia announced they might be releasing Navy files, declassifying their Navy files from underwater encounters.
Stephen Bassett: And, so, China is in the news a lot about this, including this remarkable stretch of about six months where eight airports had to close down because of sightings.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Yes, yes.
Stephen Bassett: And then New Zealand, I think early this year. That’s about 11 all total. We expect some more soon. So, that’s a significant development that really gets underway just about the time we’re doing our interview.
Stephen Bassett: Now, that’s not common, right. Let’s count the times that an airport in the United States had been closed down for a UFO event. Interviewer: For a UFO, yeah. (laughing)

Well, it’s possible, but you know if I was a recently wealthy Chinese billionaire, I don’t think I’d be flying my jet through restricted airspace and risk having my wonderful life terminated by a Chinese Air Force jet.
Stephen Bassett: It’s not run by the United States Congress. It’s not run by the president. Interviewer: Right. I understand. Stephen Bassett: They have decided to sort of hold out until the last minute. Interviewer: Why? Have you been able to glean anything as to the motivations of taking this position after all these years? It seems archaic; I mean . . .
Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Right. Stephen Bassett: So, something is going on there, coupled with the fact that China has an emerging space program. They plan to go to the Moon. They are thinking of going to Mars. They’ve got satellites up there. They’ve encouraged and are quite comfortable with UFO research there for years, opens the possibility that China may be the one to move first one this. So, these are the kinds of things that are going on. Let me be clear; the amount of things happening worldwide related to the UFO question and the disclosure processes is now so much I cannot keep up with it. It is not possible to keep up with it, and I’m devoted to doing that. Interviewer: Yeah; that’s your job. Stephen Bassett: Now, that’s exactly what I expected. It’s very much like a pot boiling. So, you put it on; the temperature rises, right, but before it actually boils, you start seeing bubbles coming up, right, here and there and wherever, and you’re trying to follow them all, but you can’t quite keep up with them, and then, finally, it boils. We’re right at the boiling point, and you can see these bubbles rising all around in different places. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: This is exactly what I’ve expected. It’s going to be very chaotic—well, chaotic in not a bad sense—with a great deal happening, lots of speculation, predictions, new stories happening very quickly, governments taking actions one after the other. This is what I anticipated happening prior to the Disclosure Event. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: Now, this could have been avoided if the US had acted proactively sooner, but apparently the policy of the US Government—at least, I say “government;” I’m talking about the military intelligence committees that run this issue. Interviewer: Right.
Stephen Bassett: Well, we don’t know for certain. We don’t know for certain because they don’t tell us. Remember, it’s a secret. Interviewer: I just wondered if you’ve heard any—you have access to people. I just wonder if you’ve heard any useful speculation, even, as to why they’re dragging their feet. Stephen Bassett: Useful speculation; yes. The assessment, the best assessment we have is that since 1991, when the Cold War was really over, that not surprisingly, the consensus within those who truly manage this issue eventually moved towards disclosure. Meaning OK, we do need to bring this out, alright. OK, fine. So, that’s happened, we think, since 1991. Exactly when it turned, to a majority . . .? Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: Now, just because the consensus is now to disclose doesn’t mean OK, we’ll just do it. They’re down there looking at the total world picture and trying to assess is this a good time? Is this the year? Is the president somebody we can work with? What’s the situation in the Middle East, and what have you? And, I’m sure that there are a lot of reasons why they can justify holding off. Plus, it is big deal. I mean this is the biggest event in human history, as far as I’m concerned, measured on the ability for it to impact the greatest number of people in the shortest amount of time, nothing comes close in the past. There have been some big events, but nothing like this. Within 72 hours of disclosure, 80 to 90 percent of the entire world’s population will know this is and they’re whole world is going to start changing a little bit. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: So, it’s a big deal and so consequently it’s a non-trivial matter, and I’m sure they’re wrapped up in the logistics and how to go about it, and so forth. So, they’re kicking the can down the road thinking maybe will be a little more conducive in July, or next year. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.

The Disclosure movement is picking up steam; other nations are stepping in. And, so, by holding off, holding off, we are creating the boiling pot scenario. Interviewer: Well, Jesse Ventura stepped up to the plate. Stephen Bassett: Ah, there’s another development there. Let’s go there. Amongst the mainstream . . . Interviewer: Mainstream. I mean that’s what’s interesting about Jesse; we know all this. We’ve been in these circles a long time. Jesse took it on to television. Stephen Bassett: Yeah, one of the many developments that I referred to earlier that we’re trying to keep up with in this near about-to-boil pot is what I am now calling the first true counter insurgency in opposition to Rule by Secrecy. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: You see, one of the most—there have been a number of major trends, threads since 1945, and we don’t have time to get into all of them. But one of them is the emergency of secrecy as an endemic tool of government; worse than ever.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And the other best example of this would be the Conspiracy Theory program, with Jesse Ventura, on Truth television. Let’s first talk about Jesse Ventura. I expected his show to be a typical schlock reality show. Jesse, after all, was a professional wrestler. Interviewer: Right. Stephen Bassett: In fact, I think he was famous for a pink boa he used to wear. Interviewer: Yes, there was that part of his career path. Stephen Bassett: But, he was also a Navy Seal. Interviewer: And a governor. Stephen Bassett: And, he eventually became governor of Minnesota. He is a unique person, without question. Interviewer: He is a courageous person. I say that because what man would wear a pink boa with that kind of . . . Stephen Bassett: Look, you gotta be courageous to be a Navy Seal; you gotta be courageous to wear a pink boa.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Interviewer: Yes. (laughing together) Stephen Bassett: The rise of what I call the secret empires in the United States and the Soviet Union, in Communist China, in the United Kingdom, in Israel, France, whatever. These are fully clandestine operations, operating on classified status, and they’ve grown and grown and grown since ’45. Now, the biggest one is in the United States, without question. It is the secret empire and it’s vast. And, increasingly, what you are seeing is governments, corporations, too, definitely corporations more and more conducting their operations in secrecy, from a secret posture. And as, obviously, given the influence that governments have over people, given the influence that corporations have over people, this eventually becomes Rule by Secrecy, as Jim Marrs calls it. This isn’t good, and we don’t like it, and it’s causing a lot of trouble. But the effort to sort of counter it has been virtually non-existence. There has been nothing approaching a true secrecy reform movement. There have been a few minor efforts at it, a few books, but nothing of consequence until, perhaps, recently, when I think a true counter insurgency began, and there are two parts of it that are worth noting now. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: One of them is a true phenomenon called Wikileaks.
Stephen Bassett: Though I should ask him, if I ever meet him, did he ever wear a pink boa to one of those reunions of Navy Seals? That would have been interesting. But, in any event, Jesse Ventura becomes governor of Minnesota. It’s one of the most interesting elections of the last 20 years. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: He ran as an independent; he split the party vote and becomes governor, and it was really quite astounding. He did it as a man dedicated to the truth, frank, tell you exactly what he thinks, people are craving that. He had a wonderful persona, whatever; he becomes governor of Minnesota. Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: Forgive me if I’m recounting this, perhaps—I’m hoping I’m recounting this accurately, and he’s spoken about this—but my understanding was that sometime after he was elected, perhaps before he actually took office, he was called to a meeting in Washington. And, for whatever reason—he wanted to go—he went, and when he got there he was in a setting which ended up seeming like almost an interrogation.

Interviewer: He does.
Stephen Bassett: And he had people sitting in front of him, and I think he concluded pretty quickly a lot of them were CIA.
Stephen Bassett: Every issue that people are sitting out there grinding their teeth about. And, while it’s a lot of showmanship in it, and it’s definitely Jesse . . .
Interviewer: Right.
Interviewer: It’s still very gutsy!
Stephen Bassett: And, apparently, what they really wanted to know was, really who are you, and how did you become governor of Minnesota? And, he didn’t like it at all, and I don’t know how long he stuck around.
Stephen Bassett: The fact is, he is bringing these issues into play.
Interviewer: Well, because domestic affairs are not part of their purview, apparently, and he was saying, “Why are you interrogating me?”
Stephen Bassett: He is giving people like Alex Jones some time, in face time.
Stephen Bassett: Well, there’s a whole lot of reasons why that was a bad idea. Interviewer: Yeah Stephen Bassett: And, I think he told them off and left— something to that affect. And, I think that that triggered in him a sense, if he didn’t already have it, that maybe something’s not quite right, here. So, he goes on; he governs Minnesota as a—he does pretty well; gets a lot of publicity. He leaves politics, and after a short amount of time approaches NBC to do a television show addressing all these issues that are in play. I guess you could call them the conspiracy issues, but whatever—the controversial stuff. And they, of course, loved it. Oh, absolutely! You go guy! And they signed him up to a multimillion dollar contract. He went out [and] created a couple of shows, the pilots, I guess, and brought them back. And, they just were shocked; they said, “Oh my God! We can’t possibly put that on,” right. And, he said, “Fine. Pay me anyway. Don’t do the show, but I still get my money.” He went off to Mexico, lived well, enjoyed himself. I suspect probably did a lot of research, and when his contract was up and he was free he comes back and he pitches the same show to the Truth Television, Truth TV, and they put it on, the Conspiracy Theory. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: OK, fine. So, I guess we could say from the time he has that meeting in Washington, to the time he puts that show on, Jesse Ventura has gotten a pretty substantial self-education in the realities of the TwentyFirst Century, and what has happened since 1945. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And, so, he shocks me by putting on this show and just going after every scab on every wound, every sore spot the government’s got.
Interviewer: Yeah, yes.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: He’s—and he’s opening up some doors that wouldn’t be opened. He’s going right up on the Hill; he’s sitting down in front of Congressman and asking them questions they don’t want to answer. And, so, this show has the potential to be a game-changer. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: There have been two seasons. It’s worth noting that they stayed away from the UFO/ET issue in those first two seasons. Interviewer: Well, they did go to Area 51. Stephen Bassett: They did a somewhat non-UFO treatment of Area 51, but I have high confidence that the UFO issue is not far behind. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And, so, OK. Here you have on one hand this former Navy Seal, with this big head and this huge persona, standing in front of the camera always at the end of the show saying, “I’m Jesse Ventura, and we’re getting this stuff,” and that appeals to a certain segment of the population, and I love it and I love this guy, and I hope to get to meet him. Now, about the same time that he approaches Truth TV to put this show together, something else is happening. Out of Australia, a gentleman by the name of Julian Assange, a computer hacker and computer genius, makes a decision to try to create the first major global whistleblower site, really, is what it is. And it’s a serious effort; money is raised; supporters are garnered; the structure of it, the server structure is developed in advance. His ability to travel around the world is all developed in advance, and they launch this site. It immediately started putting up documents from unnamed sources, but nevertheless, that are addressing

It doesn’t get a lot of attention initially, and it slowly grows over a period of three years. Assange moves around the world very regularly. He doesn’t stay in one place. He’s an Australian citizen. I hear a little bit from time to time; I don’t take special note until about six months ago, when Wikileaks, apparently, decides to make a major move. It gets a huge amount of information; it’s now pretty much established, I think. And, so, they really initiate, I guess, the counter insurgency that I’m talking about, and they put up on the web a decrypted video of an event in Baghdad, where about 14 or 15 people are killed by US gunships. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: This is a very difficult 36 minutes to watch, but it puts Wikileaks on the map. In a period of seven months, this is now a global phenomenon. He is a worldwide phenomenon, and he has upset virtually the entire superstructure of world government. Members of the United States Congress are calling for his assassination, in front of cameras. Interviewer: Yes! Stephen Bassett: I find that interesting. Not surprisingly, charges have been brought against him regarding sexual misconduct in Sweden, and what have you. Interviewer: Brought against him; withdrawn; brought against him, yeah. Stephen Bassett: So, where that’s going to go I don’t know, but we’re not surprised by this.
damage you’ve done,” and they’ve had enough! Now, I’m not saying that Wikileaks is a perfect representation of this. I’m not saying that Truth TV, or the Conspiracy Theory has got everything right. But, I am saying that they truly reflect the fact that people are ready, now, to take action against this. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: Which needs to be non-violent. It needs to be appropriate, and it needs to be within certain bounds. But, let me make it clear; this is the first true test of the internet to demonstrate its ability to empower people—the collective empowerment of the global web. This is really the first true test, and I believe that if you look out at this vast internet sea, that on the horizon a tidal wave is building; it is heading for the shore, and it is the global internet response to, not only Rule by Secrecy, but to whatever governments have in store for those who pursue that, such as Wikileaks. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: And, I think when it finally reaches the shore of government and institutions and corporations, it is going to be a mile high, unless they shut the web down, and I don’t think they can. Interviewer: I don’t think they can, either, because you know, as we’ve joked about before, if they try, some 12year-old, like Assange will put it all back together, again. There are so many little geniuses out there. Stephen Bassett: That cat got out—that ship has sailed. They let the cat out of the bag back in the early ‘90s.
Interviewer: Yeah. Interviewer: The cat’s, yeah, yeah. Stephen Bassett: But, what’s interesting is that Julian Assange is this 130-pound-dripping-wet, mild mannered androgynous gentleman, who has created this vast enterprise that is turning the world upside down for a whole lot of major government institutions. And then over here, we have the Navy Seal, and they’re sort of two tracks. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: Well, this to me—take True Televisions’s, Conspiracy Theory, and there will be more shows like that; I guarantee it—and then you take Wikileaks, whatever the outcome there—and there will be more sites like this; I guarantee it—together they represent the first true counter insurgency against Rule by Secrecy. Meaning, the people are finally saying, “We’ve had enough of this! OK, it’s bad enough that you govern incompetently, but you govern in secrecy. We don’t even know what you’re doing. All we learn later is how much
Stephen Bassett: I think most of the people that are in power with bad intentions in our world didn’t understand it, and it was gone before they could catch it. Interviewer: At the same time, you have some intrusive treatment. I think Alex Jones’s site just went through this, recently, where Google had, essentially, taken Google searches for his off for—it was speculated it might last a few weeks, a slap on the hand. But it lasted, what, a couple days, a few days, something like that. Stephen Bassett: Oh, yeah, sure. Well, there’s going to be that. No, this is a counter insurgency. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: And this is—I don’t like to use martial metaphors—but, this is a battle; this is a war. There will be battles won and lost.

Stephen Bassett: And, so, Amazon takes Wikileaks off their server, which is one of their key presences in the US. A bunch of hackovists, they’re called now. I love it; it’s a new word; hackovists.
Stephen Bassett: And when I say “people,” remember—I forget how many people are on the web, but I think we’re startin’ to get up into the two billion range, two, three, billion. There’s a half a billion people on Facebook.
Interviewer: Hackovists. The first time I’ve heard it. Stephen Bassett: And then you go after the Amazon site.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: They’re going after sites in Sweden. Now, I’m not condoning illegal behavior. I’m simply saying that, you know, this is reality. Interviewer: It’s an appropriate pushback considering the degree of Rule by Secrecy, as Jim Marrs states, that has occurred up to this point in time. It’s, I think—it may be, and it may not be legal—but, it is an appropriate pushback. Stephen Bassett: It is. It is going to be one of the most massive examples of civil disobedience ever.
Stephen Bassett: That’s growing. That’ll be a billion within probably a year. And, they’re just starting to understand oh, well, I can do that. Or, I can get on Skype and call people around the world for practically nothing. Or, I can form an activist thing. They’re just starting to understand it. And then the mindset of OK, now that we can do this, let’s come together. What is it that we want to do? And, so, the future of activism is ten million people contributing $1 each to a website or an organization, through the web—Paypal—one buck, with a design to go and address a major issue with the US Government, the UK Government. Do you think those ten million people are going to miss the $1? No. Do you think the $10, 000,000 will be a really powerful thing? Absolutely. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: Look this is the nature of the world. Our government’s hacking Chinese computers; they’re hacking our computers; corporations are hacking each other. The government is interfering with some citizen activities, and well guess what, they’re hackers out there that are interfering with the government. Look, it’s all kind of wild and crazy, but let’s keep focused here. Abuses of power and dysfunctional government is now the greatest threat to a functioning, peaceful world, alright, in solving our problems. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: And one way or another, that has got to be reformed. And it shouldn’t shock anybody that the primary conduit of that reform is going to be the net. But, I’m not specifically talking about, necessarily hacking and that kind of stuff. The fact is that the internet is the greatest empowerment tool ever. And, so, it’s also, say, people coming together on websites and having a million strong subscribing to a website that is designed to address secrecy reform. Or, forming secrecy reform Facebook groups, with a million members, and communicating to each other, and raising funds on line, and all the things you can do; forming political action committees, funding them through the net. All of this is possible. What really we have not seen yet, and I’m not criticizing people because the net has only really been around in full force for about 15, 16 years—but, we haven’t even begun to use that resource. The people are figuring it out.
Stephen Bassett: This is collective empowerment, which without the internet you really can’t do. Interviewer: That’s true. Stephen Bassett: With the internet and the kinds of things, like Paypal, that are developing, it’s all doable. We’re not there, yet. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: So, but that will be part of this counter insurgency, and I do not think the governments can win this one. I think they have to lose here, and I think there are plenty of people in government that want to lose. Meaning, you know, I know sort of how things are. Interviewer: It’s hard to play this game, anymore. Stephen Bassett: Yeah, yeah. I know how things are; I know I’m sort of part of it, but I’d rather not be. So, we have that. So, I think they will kind of come over to our side, and that ultimately we win this. Like, for instance, I’ll give you an example: I have a hunch about 9/11. It’s not my area, and I don’t get out there and try to tell people what’s going on, but I have a hunch that 9/11 is going to get resolved. We’re going to find out about that. I think we’re going to win that one. Chemtrails. On chemtrails, initially I had serious doubts anything was going on. After about five years, I’m starting to think yes, something is going on. Interviewer: Yeah.

The internet has changed the game, the equation. And, so, governments need to understand that you can do your thing, but you actually may be accountable for it. It’s like these politicians, who haven’t figured that out, and they’re going on camera and they are saying some stupid thing that they would have gotten away with in 1985, but in the Internet era it’s on YouTube the next day.
Interviewer: Point very well made, and I hope it’s registering with everybody out there, who has a heat, that’s willing to do something. Meanwhile, what about this whole—we’re talking going back into the whole disclosure subject, specifically, and we’re talking about another major influence besides the net, is Hollywood. And what has Hollywood been doing with this subject and why, and who’s orchestrating that, and what do you see happening down the road?
Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: Well, some of those bubbles in that about-to-boil-pot I mentioned are Hollywood, entertainment world, television, movies. Not surprising as we move closer and closer to the Disclosure Event.
Stephen Bassett: Suddenly, it’s being investigated; they come up with some stupid response and they’re political career is over in a week.
Interviewer: And most of it’s negatively portrayed? Interviewer: Right. Stephen Bassett: It’s like that. Interviewer: It’s getting harder to spin it, with this much information available. Stephen Bassett: So, the collective power of a billion people focused through the net, right—even accounting for the fact the net is still a wild west and there’s a lot of crazy stuff going on—but there are ways to filter; there are ways to cut through that.
Stephen Bassett: Well, let’s comment on that. I’ll comment on that. Interviewer: OK. Stephen Bassett: Not surprisingly, Hollywood is going in. I mean we knew this was going to happen. They’ve always been in the subject. They’ve made tons of money, billions and billions of dollars off of extraterrestrial related . . . Interviewer: The Day the Earth Stood Still. Stephen Bassett: Right, all the way back to the ‘50s.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: The impact of a billion people with that kind of power. Remember, the net is inexpensive. I mean it’s free in every library. You’ve got built-in wireless to every computer. And, so, if a kid’s got a computer, he’s got free internet access. That power, when it starts to really have impact, it’s what makes me feel good about the Twenty-First Century. Barring some really dumb thing, I think we can straighten this business out, and the net, again, worship it. It is the deus ex machina of our time; it is a gift from the cosmos; it’s the greatest invention of all time. And, I know there are some people who would like to go live in a forest and get away from it all and have an organic garden, and I appreciate that. The thing is, I’m a tech guy. Some tech is good and some tech is bad, and the internet is the best thing that’s ever come down the pike. Interviewer: Well, Scott and I would agree with that. We’re here talking to you, with people watching you on the net, so you’re preaching to the choir, here, but I agree with you; I agree with you.
Stephen Bassett: But, it’s only grown and grown and grown. Some of the most notable movies we know, and they’re virtually legend; 2001 Space Odyssey, E.T. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Close Encounters. Stephen Bassett: Extraterrestrials for everybody, right? Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: Close Encounters of the Third Kind. And let’s not forget that massive 20-hour miniseries by Stephen Spielberg, Taken, which is about abduction in a sort of theatrical history of the UFO Truth Embargo, right. A lot of people have forgotten about that. It’s still out there, but then, and then, one television show after another with alien themes. Many of them have already come and gone. They didn’t work. There’s six more in the pipeline right now. Interviewer: Mork and Mindy.
Stephen Bassett: I’m preaching to the choir, here. But, I want to get that message out there because there’s a lot of people on the net right now who have no idea what it could do.
Stephen Bassett: Even, Mork and Mindy, though that dates. You just dated yourself. Interviewer: (laughing)

And then I guess the perfect, I guess, symbol for Hollywood’s embracing of this is, of course, Avatar. Avatar comes out, and let’s not forget it’s about extraterrestrials, OK. Admittedly, they’re ectomorphic, blue, really good looking extraterrestrials, but the point is it’s about extraterrestrials. And it doesn’t do “well;” it does 2.7 billion dollars well, alright. And, I admit that the previous world record was not an ET movie. It was about the Titanic, which was a sinking ship, and that did well because I think all Americans can relate to a sinking ship, if you know what I mean.
Stephen Bassett: But, as we know, it’s still embargoed.
Interviewer: (laughing)
Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: But, no one should be shocked that the highest grossing movie by a wide margin of almost a billion dollars is about extraterrestrials, and there’s more films in the works.
Stephen Bassett: That’s why billions of dollars are flowing into this town from the subject.
Interviewer: And people are very sympathetic to that message and its message regarding the Earth, itself.
Stephen Bassett: Not simply because oh, gee, ET’s are a cool subject.
Stephen Bassett: Well, there’s two things going on here, without getting into the negative and positives.
Interviewer: Right.
Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: Nobody should be surprised that a lot of these ET movies are scary. You know it’s just like horror movies, right? Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: OK. But there are also positive ET movies. I mentioned some; Star Man. There have been plenty of them. What’s important here is, and what I need to convey to your viewers is this: Look, the people in this town are smart people. They’re wealthy; they’re connected politically, right. I mean everybody knows that Hollywood has got big political connections now. But the idea that the Hollywood moguls and producers and highend directors don’t know, or haven’t figured out, personally, the ET presence is real—come on! They know it’s real. And, so, they understand the importance of this subject, and so that helps to insure that they’re going to engage it. But more importantly, here’s the dynamic that’s operating here: As the polls have shown, 50 percent of the American people—let’s just talk about America, but this is true for most of the first-world countries—50 percent of the American people believe privately, when polled, that the UFO phenomena is, in part, extraterrestrial. And 80 to 90 percent consistently will tell you in polling that the government is not telling the truth about this. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: And, so, you sort of know that ET’s are here; you know you don’t know the full truth about it, but what can you do about it? You can’t. But, still, it’s there. So, Hollywood comes along and makes movies about extraterrestrials, and so when you go to those movies this is your way of connecting to the issue. You can’t get the truth from the government, but you can experience it in the movie theater or in front of your television.
Interviewer: Interesting. Yes, that makes total sense, sure.
Stephen Bassett: There is no other genre that generates this kind of money. Now, they are feasting on, essentially, this extraordinary event in human history that’s taking place. I don’t blame them. I kind of wish some of those billions of dollars, just a little bit, that’s pouring into Hollywood and into other entertainment areas around the US, some of it might come back to the advocacy work, to the people that are trying to get the government to end this embargo. Interviewer: The real deal, yeah. Stephen Bassett: And that just hasn’t happened, and I think it’s unfortunate, right. But, in any event, without question all of these movies have served to advance the issue, raise public awareness of the ET reality to virtually 100 percent, which is a phenomenal thing. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: I mean if you were a business and you had a product, and you had 100 percent recognition of that product in public, you would make a fortune. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: So, as I’ve said many times, you could go out on the street right now and you can interview 100 people and 40 of them will be able to tell you who the Vice President is, but 100 of them will know what you’re talking about if you say UFO or extraterrestrial. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.

Stephen Bassett: And, so, if you know a lot about contactee’s experiences, and you’ve talked to many of them and you’re familiar with the research . . . Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: There is no other genre that generates this kind of money. Now, they are feasting on, essentially, this extraordinary event in human history that’s taking place. I don’t blame them. I kind of wish some of those billions of dollars, just a little bit, that’s pouring into Hollywood and into other entertainment areas around the US, some of it might come back to the advocacy work, to the people that are trying to get the government to end this embargo. Interviewer: The real deal, yeah. Stephen Bassett: And that just hasn’t happened, and I think it’s unfortunate, right. But, in any event, without question all of these movies have served to advance the issue, raise public awareness of the ET reality to virtually 100 percent, which is a phenomenal thing. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: I mean if you were a business and you had a product, and you had 100 percent recognition of that product in public, you would make a fortune. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: So, as I’ve said many times, you could go out on the street right now and you can interview 100 people and 40 of them will be able to tell you who the Vice President is, but 100 of them will know what you’re talking about if you say UFO or extraterrestrial. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: So, Hollywood has helped insure we have 100 percent awareness of this issue. That kind of makes it that much more difficult for the government to continue to maintain a Truth Embargo. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: So, Hollywood has definitely helped drive the process and that’s a good thing. Now, we could get into, you know, those of us that know a great deal about the UFO/ET reality naturally are going to be sensitive to the content. Interviewer: Mmmhmm.
Stephen Bassett: And you go see a movie like The Fourth Kind, which is a very over dramatic, hyperbolic misrepresentation approach, it’s easy to get a little upset about that. But, on the other hand, there is contact going on. There are abductions taking place, and that movie is somewhat reflective of that. And, so, my thinking is hey, you have a right to do that. But over here somebody else will do a movie, and they are going to do that. Interviewer: So, it all drives awareness. Stephen Bassett: Or, they address it in a different way. But it’s all part and this is reasonable. And, of course, you know our movies are exported around the world. And so Hollywood hasn’t just raised the awareness of the US citizens; it’s raised world awareness. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: I don’t know what it is, but worldwide it’s probably up in the 80 percent. That means 80 percent of 6.4 billion people are aware of the ET and UFO issue. That’s where we are today, and that’s why the Truth Embargo, of course, will end; it has to end. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Anything you want to add to that in terms of the people watching this right now, in terms of if they’re interested in this and feel compelled to do so, what are some things they can do from their computer? Stephen Bassett: Well . . . Interviewer: I know they can come to your group and support you because you’re one of the only real political activists groups out there, and I do understand that. So, that’s one way to go is to help support your work. What are some other things they can do? Stephen Bassett: Well, first and foremost, people need to increase their understanding of what’s happening around them with respect to this issue. They need to make some effort to try to get up to speed on this disclosure process. Interviewer: Well, and you have a massive number of articles. I just want to say that you have a massive amount of information on your site, because that’s what you’ve been doing is compiling to this day. Stephen Bassett: There are many sites out there. If you were to go and Google “exopolitics,,” you’ll get tons of sites.

Stephen Bassett: If you Google “UFO,” you’ll get tons of sites.
Stephen Bassett: There was a great deal of effort by the government to tell people you can’t—stay away from that! You can’t go there; it’s not in your best interests. And, so, where normally the power of the issue would invite in a substantial amount of financial support, it isn’t there.
Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: And you can—but, my site, www.paradigmresearchgroup.com is designed to have thousands of links outward. But, to the extent that people become a little more aware, this is going to serve them well, because this is a big deal coming, and a little foreknowledge won’t hurt, right. And that will be helpful because it’s to all of our best interests that the postdisclosure world, which starts five seconds after a world leader announcing that the ET presence is real, go well. I mean we want people to conduct themselves well. We want to see some policy changes. We want to see things happen. We don’t want to see hyperbolic behavior. So, a little foreknowledge will help there. That’s the first thing you can do. Secondly, they certainly can get in touch with their representatives and their politicians, some of their media. They can make comments on articles that appear on the net in whatever about their thoughts on this and sort of state what they feel about this. And they can react to negative or ridiculous media coverage or silliness coming out of government on this. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: They can do that. They can become somewhat proactive. We definitely could use some of these people who are blessed through their hard work with substantial resources to maybe step forward and help to fund the advocacy work, because we are, in a sense, the Disclosure movement is not simply an advocacy for disclosure. It is an advocacy for the people’s interest.
Interviewer: Right. Stephen Bassett: So, people have to sort of get through that barrier, that ridicule curtain and say no, no, no; this is important. I’ll fund it. I should point out that the risk of supporting this work, engaging this work are far, far less than they were in past times. Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: This is not 1960 – 1989, 1990. Interviewer: Right. Stephen Bassett: There’s been almost no, what I would call nastiness, since about the year 2000. Now, there are some issues out there where nastiness still goes on, but not this one. And, obviously, the attitudes of the public have changed. Media is covering it; again, thousands of articles. And, so, the idea that somebody could not provide substantial financial support for this work and was going to somehow suffer some huge embarrassment or be ridiculed, that’s really minimal, now. Interviewer: Yeah. Stephen Bassett: And, so, I don’t think the barriers are there, but they are perceived to be there. So, obviously, we are looking for that, if it’s possible. And, in general, every conference that someone attends, every publication they buy or subscribe to provides a little resource to this, and these are the things they can do.
Interviewer: Right. Stephen Bassett: We are citizens engaging the government on this issue, and to the extent that we can have significant financial support, we can best represent the people’s interests. Interviewer: And it’s true; people like yourself doing this kind of work tirelessly for decades have been operating on frayed shoestring budgets.
Now, in the Paradigm Research Group’s world there are some very specific things because we have ongoing projects. One, Fax on Washington; this is new since we interviewed before. The www.faxonwashington.org has been a—it goes back to November the 5th of 2008; so, we’re talking now two years. It was set up specifically to direct letters, faxes and emails to the government about this issue. Interviewer: Very good.
Stephen Bassett: No. It’s the least funded major activist movement in history. Interviewer: Yeah, yeah. Stephen Bassett: But there is a reason. Unlike any other activists—I think movement you can refer to historically, this issue, remember, was embargoed.
Stephen Bassett: Now, the target was the president elect, which was Barrack Obama, and a lot of mail and faxes were sent, and emails were sent to the transition headquarters. After he took office, from June 20 to June 1, it was then directed at the White House. But since June 1, the Fax on Washington.org website is where you

Stephen Bassett: And how many? We could have thousands. And, so, no big deal. It’s just a talking group. No Board of Directors, no By Laws, no you know, rules, just a talking group listed now—soon, you’ll be able to go there and say, “Is there a group in my town?” And then you can contact them and join up. And, so, we’re trying to build this grassroots discussion out there through just a website. Very simple, very basic, but yet, extremely effective if people participate. Stephen Bassett: Exopolitics is the term—we didn’t discuss this, but exopolitics is the term that now is used to, I think, harbor the citizen engagement of this issue, the social/political engagement of this issue.
Stephen Bassett: And, so, we’re creating this perceived network on the net, on the web of countries engaging the issue, and they’re cross connecting with each other and promoting each other. And that’s the Exopolitics World Network, and it’s growing. Our goal would be about 50 to 100 countries; that would be fantastic. We’re up to about 25. Now, just a few months ago, five months ago, I announced from Budapest, on my last European tour, the next phase of the Exopolitics World Network, which is the Exopolitics Cities Initiative—World Network Cities Initiative. What is it? Simple. Anyone who wants to start up an exopolitics talking group; think, you know, “book club.”
Stephen Bassett: Talking groups, portals of websites. Interviewer: Yeah, very good.
Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: It’s not Ufology; it’s not a science. It covers a lot of things, right. Interviewer: Mmmhmm. Stephen Bassett: But it’s basically politics addressing the ET issue in every form and fashion; that’s why it’s exopolitics. Some people are offended by the term, but we need a term; we need a nomenclature, here, and

So, I’m an exopolitical activist. This is an exopolitical movement, the Disclosure movement, and everyone can join. It’s global. The ET engagement of this planet is global; it’s not about a particular nation, race, religion. They’re engaging all of us and all of our futures are being shaped by this. Interviewer: Yes. Stephen Bassett: And, I’ll leave you with this. One of the neat things about what’s about to happen, the Disclosure Event; when the announcement is made and we move into the post-disclosure world, I like to call it, is that everybody crosses that finish line or beginning line together. Nobody’s first; nobody’s last. We all go across at that moment at the same time. I like that. It’s a kind of moment of pure equality. And then afterwards, we all start working to see what we’re going to do, and how we’re going to be involved, and whatever. Fine. But in that moment the human race crosses into the New World, in a sense, all together. Hopefully, that togetherness will linger for a while, but it will be a wonderful moment and I think it’s soon, and I look forward to sharing it with you. And, we’ll talk, again, I’m sure after. It is already an established point of research that the majority of Americans believe that earth has been visited by aliens, that they have seen a UFO (and believe it to have been extraterrestrial in origin), and that the U. S. government is deliberately hiding proof of alien life and contact. If you ignore these subjects of alien visitations and government cover-up, you do so to your own worldview peril and sacrifice your calling to minister to hundreds of people whom you already know and whom you will meet. You also forfeit your ability to answer a number of sincere and compelling questions from these people. In short, you will be “worldview-irrelevant” to a large percentage of the culture. This article presents a broad overview of how I approach these phenomena with the goal of convincing the reader that there is a lot to think about of theological significance when it comes to the subjects of UFOs, aliens, and abductions. As this article is simply an introduction, it will not provide answers to the questions raised. Hopefully though, you will comeback to Vision Report Watch regularly for those answers, offered by myself and by others. The issues that confront the Church with regard to the subjects at hand fall under two, broad, “paradigm shifting” issues: (1) What if there really are aliens, and they are, in part at least, behind what we think of today as UFOs and abductions?, (2) What if what we think are aliens are not truly aliens but rather are some other intelligent being from another plane of reality that is behind these phenomena? However, you and I may approach these questions with different mindsets. Thus, before getting to the specific points of overview, it is important that you, the reader, think carefully about your own biases and presuppositions to the subjects at hand—and that you understand my biases and presuppositions to these subjects. You might have asked yourself, just why it is that so many Americans believe in aliens. Might they be culturally conditioned? Might there be media influences directing them to believe what they say they believe? Besides, you might conclude, it does not matter what people believe; it matters what is true, and UFOs and aliens are not for real. These are important questions, but if you think posing these questions in and of itself will solve the core issues, you are mistaken. The mere validity of these questions is not a substitute for the correct response to these questions or for reality. It is correct that just because there are people who do believe in aliens does not make their reality (that aliens exist) certain. But it is equally true that just because you do not believe in aliens does not make your view of reality factually certain. Belief about reality and reality itself are two different things. It is true that the Bible does not say God created aliens. It is equally true that it does not say he did not create aliens. Biblical silence does not inform us as to reality. If that were the case, we could not affirm there are eight other planets in our solar system or that there are such things as microwaves (among a plethora of other examples). We can, I imagine, agree with a good measure of confidence that it does matter whether there really are aliens, since this truth would force everyone to reexamine his or her worldview. Since so many Christians view an extraterrestrial reality as something that cannot be Biblical, the pain of an ET revelation would be especially acute for those whose position right now is that their belief must be the reality. But what matters even more is that people believe there are aliens, for this belief molds, guides, and even dictates people’s worldview.

THE CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON ALIENS It also matters what we mean when we even use the term “alien.” When I speak of “aliens,” I am referring to an intelligent life form that: (1) (2) (3) (4)
has a determined life span (it can and will die), needs to sustain itself through nourishment and procreation, has a physical, corporeal existence on a planet other than our own, and is subject to the laws of physics, personally and with respect to interstellar travel. In what follows I will refer to this definition of “alien” with the phrases “genuine alien” or “genuine alien reality.”
My goal is neither to convince the Christian reader that there are genuine aliens, nor to affirm a preconception that there cannot be because of something that is not in the Bible. There may be aliens, but there may also be another reality behind what people assume are aliens. I think we could also agree that at least some, and perhaps the majority, of those individuals who say they witnessed an alien presence or were abducted by aliens truly believe their experience was real. That is, they are not lying. This, too, is a matter of the scholarly research record. Researchers (Christian or otherwise) who believe that there is a reality beyond the physical world tend to view abductions as real events with an explanation rooted in a spiritual reality, while those who reject any notion of a spiritual reality typically relegate the experience to the biology of brain function. As Christians, we are forced toward the former category—the experiences are real (and even physical) and have either a spiritual origin or meaning, or both. Affirming the materialist worldview is dangerous since these same researchers would argue that all spiritual experience—even the very belief in a God—is due to brain chemistry and function. My own view is that many of the people who claim to have been abducted by aliens have had a real experience; it is not a fabrication or brain alarm. However, their experience needs processing and does not offer proof of a genuine alien reality. Were a genuine alien reality proven by science, then that reality needs to be factored in to such experiences. Personally, while I do not think there is evidence to support the view that there are genuine aliens (as defined above), I would not find their reality theologically problematic. My real goal is to move the reader to carefully consider how their view of biblical theology and physical and spiritual reality would be affected by either paradigm shift noted above— realization of a genuine alien reality, or an immanent, even invasive, spiritual reality that doesn’t look like your father’s demonological Oldsmobile. If either (or both) is true, the Christian worldview would face challenges that need to be addressed. Paradigm Shift 1 – We Find Out ET Really Is Out There Ufology is of importance for the Christian because it entertains this very fundamental unknown—one that the Church dealt with very early in its history. The question of “other worlds” (the way the debate is usually worded in the Church Fathers and other ecclesiastical writers) goes all the way back to pre-Christian thinkers, namely Aristotle. Since the early Church Fathers and later theologians articulated a lot of their theology on the basis of (or in opposition to) Aristotelian philosophy, the subject naturally crops up important writings of major figures like Augustine and Aquinas. During and after the late Middle Ages, the Church took a favorable view of the question, arguing that a negative answer to the idea impinged on the omnipotence of God. The organized Church (Protestant or Catholic) held the existence of other worlds and life forms on those worlds to be almost self-evident until the 17th century Enlightenment. Things changed after deists used the Church’s acceptance of this idea into an argument against orthodox Christology and also when, in the wake of Darwinism, the idea became linked to an evolutionary outlook of life on earth. More recently (since the 1950s) the question of other worlds has been linked to stories of alien contact and abduction, which conjures up images of Genesis 6:1-4 in the mind of many Christians. These last two

THE CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON ALIENS intellectual shifts has produced what we now see, in the evangelical church at least,: overwhelming antagonism toward the idea that there could be ET life. The Church today either holds that the idea is intrinsically incompatible with the Bible or is tantamount to demonic contact—and so why should Christians be “into” this? The current stance of the Church will not make the questions go away, though. If there are in fact genuine aliens and they are not demonic manifestations, a host of questions are raised—all of which one will encounter in ufological literature and need thoughtful response from any believer with a high view of the Bible:
(1) If there are ETs, would that mean the Bible is an errant book? This issue is directly related to more “normal” Bible difficulties and inerrancy. Most Christians do not put much thought into the issue of inerrancy—it is just assumed. What I mean here is that, while the Bible does refer to itself as error-free, it says almost nothing about what that means. Evangelical theologians who hold to an inerrant Bible often use phrases like “the Bible, as originally written, is completely true and correct in all that it affirms, rightly interpreted.” That is a good start, but again, most people do not really know what that means. For example, is the Bible allowed to use the language of appearances”— descriptions of things to the naked eye but which are not scientifically accurate (phrases like “the sun rose,” which are in the Bible)? Should not God have used more scientifically precise language? After all, he would know the earth revolves around the sun. In like manner, he would know if there were ETs, so since that information is omitted, if there are ETs, is the Bible in error? If what people think are aliens are really demons and those demons manifest physically and manufacture flying craft to fool people into thinking they are from outer space, why did not God tell us that in the Bible? Ufology forces Christians to think about how certain doctrines should be defined in the wake of such scenarios, as well as the limits of our definitions. It is a worthwhile exercise in thinking about doctrine even if such scenarios never occur. Why? Because divine revelation (the Bible) cannot be “more true” than natural revelation. The idea of anything being “more true” is logically incoherent. Something is either true or it is not. We need to think theologically in such a way that all truth is in harmony. (2) Would the doctrine of the imageof God be overturned, since that’s what makes humankind unique in all the creation? This issue requires coming to terms with what is meant by the image of God. For centuries it has been fashionable to define the “image of God” as some sort of capability—for example, intelligence, emotions, a “Goddirectedness,” or self awareness. If an intelligent ET showed up, these definitions would either mean the Bible is wrong (humans would not be unique in the creation by virtue of this “image” given to them) or would have to be dismissed. Frankly, we should never have defined the image this way in the first place since it is incoherent and ethically troublesome. But many Christians do, including pastors and theologians, and poor thinking on the subject sets the Church up for problems should an intelligent (even to a human toddler’s level) ET be out there.

THE CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON ALIENS (3) Would ET need a Savior? If so, would Jesus have to be incarnated again, go to that world, die, and be raised? If not, does that mean he never sinned? If he sinned, why is there no salvation for ET? Care needs to be taken, especially with respect to this question, to not equate ET with angels, since that opens up another can of theological worms. Astronomers and ufologists frequently imagine ET as intelligent and self-aware. That presupposition causes them to wonder why salvation would not be offered to ET. After all, ET would be capable of moral decisions and thus be intelligent enough to choose Christ or not. If God did not arbitrarily withhold salvation from ET, then is not it reasonable to argue that, just as the second person of the Trinity had to be incarnate in human flesh to save humans, he would have to become incarnate in “ET flesh” to save ET? C.S. Lewis actually produced a good bit of material on such questions, but Christians today seem to think such questions are worthless. They would no doubt change their minds quite quickly were NASA to announce something as mild as “lower life forms” in space. Once the ET cat is out of the bag, all such questions become germane, and the contemporary Church should be ready. In fact, because of our technology, the need is even greater today for Christians to be thinking about such things as it was fifty years ago for Lewis and centuries ago for other theologians. (4)
Would ET life lend support to evolution?
Since the Bible does not say God created ETs, if there were genuine aliens, the only options would be: (a) God made them, (b) another Being superior to them made them, or (c) they got here by natural processes. Most conservative Christians would naturally opt for option “a”—but does that mean that we have only an argument from silence to defend Biblical integrity? Some Christians (e.g., believing scientists who accept evolution as a divinely created process inherently operative within carbon life forms) would opt for the third choice and use it in concert with “a.” But since the Bible said nothing about ET, the discovery of life in space could easily be used as an argument for the idea that all information about life’s origin should be found outside the Bible. In other words, while we have the Biblical statement that God created Adam and Eve, in the absence of a similar statement about ET, opponents of creationism (in any form) could argue that ET’s presence shows us the independent, random, and “unintelligent” (i.e., undirected) operation of evolution. Why not go all the way and get rid of the silly idea of God? My point here is not that such logic is compelling. Rather, the point is that many people would follow it, which means an apologetic and evangelistic response would have to be formed to specifically follow this trajectory. Why wait until the day it happens? Christians involved in ufology are already thinking in these terms and seeking to get the Christian community to think on them as well. (5) Would an ET reality lend credibility to panspermia—the idea that life on earth was “seeded” from space—randomly or intelligently? Would the plurals in Genesis 1:26 then imply that God used ETs to create us? What if ET was genetically similar to us? Would the plurals of Genesis 1:26 then mean or imply that they made us? After all, to even a modern person an ET who could do that would be pretty god-like. It should be pretty obvious that people for whom the Bible is not a sacred book would scarcely be satisfied with hearing us quote Bible verses in response to such questions as these. You might say, “Well, we don’t have to worry about that since there’s no proof there are aliens.” I would agree that there is presently no proof, but that does not mean there will never be such proof. And that objection is little more than a distraction from the real issue: even though there is no concrete proof for alien life, many people believe that there are aliens—and are already asking these questions. Without coherent answers, they will assume the JudeoChristian worldview is deficient or even bankrupt as an accurate representation of reality. And answers will not be at the ready unless Christians start getting “into” ufology so as to address the issues it raises.

THE CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON ALIENS Paradigm Shift 2 – We Discover that Demonic Manifestations Are More Real and Present Than Our Theological Comfort Zone Allows I should make it clear at the outset what I am referring to here. It has been my observation that a good percentage of those Christians confronted with the issue of UFOs and abductions simultaneously like to assert they are demonic entities but then scoff at the idea that such entities are really doing the kinds of things one reads about in alien abduction literature: physically harming people, scanning their minds, giving them overviews of their life and the future, showing them hybrid babies they have fathered or birthed through genetic manipulation, etc. That is just too much—demonic entities surely are not capable of these things, and Christians are certainly immune from such direct demonization. These Christians seem to want to keep Satan and his minions on the street corner with the drug addicts and prostitutes or in Afghanistan with Osama bin Laden, or in satanic cults. The alien stuff is just too weird—and yet the demonic explanation is preferable to genuine aliens coming here and sexually abusing people. Lest I be misunderstood at this point. While I have no theological problem with there being genuine alien life forms on other planets, I think that the demonic explanation for what we refer to today as alien abductions (and a certain number of UFO accounts) is the most coherent view. On the other hand, I do not believe that there is an actual “breeding” program going on. However, I do believe that demonic entities can, have, and do physically abuse people—including Christians. It has been on ongoing amazement to me that the very people who should be the most predisposed to believing in a “here and now” spiritual battle between good and evil (i.e., Christians) are often the most reluctant to acknowledge the notion that it is really happening. I think there are two reasons for this. 1. Many biblical scholars (perhaps most) in the evangelical world are cessationists when it comes to things like the supernatural gifts (tongues, healing, etc.) being “for today.” They are sensitive to that issue because the modern charismatic movement has so badly abused the Bible and produced a disturbing number of moral and financial scandals in the name of the Holy Spirit. Anyone who has read much cessationist literature knows that the modern display of the gifts are often attributed to demonic fakery and self-suggestion, so as to lead the Church away from sound doctrine and the rigorous study of the Bible. This has created an adamant insistence within much of evangelicalism on “not being charismatic,” which has in turn devolved into an attitude that any immanent activity of those beings that inhabit the spiritual plane (even God at times) gets filtered through a rationalistic, cessationist mindset. This mindset is basically completely closed to any sort of dramatic interplay between the spirit world and our world. Even if one can provide examples from the Bible for some current event the response is typically “Well, that is not for today, so there must be some other explanation.” I say all this to make a solitary point: modern Christians have been conditioned, for perhaps understandable reasons, against believing that the spiritual world is currently active in visible, tangible, observable ways. Yes, we believe in our heads that it is real, but we want to deny it is alive. The latter is just too “paranormal.” 2. This one is what I call “the Peretti problem.” In the wake of Frank Peretti’s bestselling Christian novels, many non-charismatics have been turned off to the immediacy of the spirit realm. Peretti’s portrayal of demonization frankly goes beyond what can be gleaned from the Scriptures in that he seemingly wants to see a demon behind every problem, character flaw, and sin, rather than admitting that we

THE CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON ALIENS often screw up our own lives in the flesh just fine, thank you. Peretti’s exaggerated “demonology,” which borders on the silly at points, has made it tough to argue for a supernatural worldview to non-charismatics. Whether consciously or unconsciously, many people do not want to believe that darkness really is so tangibly present as the demonic view of the alien abduction phenomena suggests because they are uncomfortable with the Peretti portrayal. For the record, I am not a charismatic. I do not believe that miraculous gifts like those described in the New Testament are intended by God to be normative today, primarily because those gifts were associated very clearly with the validation of apostolic authority and the creation of the canon. But there are a number of unwarranted non sequiturs that have been extrapolated from this stance by a large number of evangelicals. It does not follow from the above: (a) that the spirit world (good or evil) is less invasive today than in biblical times, (b) that God cannot give someone today the same kind of gift—either on occasion or for some period of time—for some other reason that apostleship or producing canonical material, (c) that the manifestation of such gifts means that the person should be viewed as an apostolic successor or conduit of revelation binding on the Church at large, and (d) that overt manifestations of the spirit world are necessarily connected to charismatic gifts that are not the norm for the Church today. What the above leads to is the conclusion that one can admit to visible, tangible, observable spirit world activity today without embracing the doctrinal abuses and oddities of the evangelical fringe. But overcoming the cessationist bias and the “Peretti problem” is only one task. Christians weaned on an overrationalistic approach to the Bible need to understand that Biblical theology allows a number of ideas that they may not have thought about very deeply with respect to the spirit world. For example, I would suggest that sound doctrinal analysis of Scripture allows (and even demonstrates): (a) that spiritual manifestations today need not take the same form as in biblical periods, (b) that spiritual manifestations may be truly physical (you could touch them and they can touch you), (c) spiritual manifestations often cloak themselves in ways that conform to cultural expectations—either to not stand out or to “fit” into the worldview of the person being contacted, and (d) spiritual beings can directly influence people to further an agenda, and this influence can be direct or indirect. If at least some UFO sightings and the alien abduction phenomenon are correctly attributed to demonic manifestation, why should Christians care?
(1) It would mean we need to be honest about the reality and frequency of spiritual beings “crossing over” to our plane of reality. That is, we need to surrender our comfort zone when it comes to our doctrine of demonology. The idea that spiritual beings can move from their plane of reality to ours is neither new nor foreign to students of the Bible. However, the non-charismatic evangelical world has been less than enthusiastic about living as though this reality was truly present, intelligently purposeful, and no farther away than the tip of one’s nose. Modern Christians who operate more from an intellectual base than anything else need a wakeup call. Dealing seriously with the occult patterns in alien abduction and UFO contactees will certainly give that to you. It may even compel you to reconsider the tidy package evangelicalism currently calls “angelology” to test its own Biblical moorings.

THE CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE ON ALIENS (2) It would mean that we need to take more seriously the deceptive power of spiritual manifestations. This one is for the post-modern Christian. Post-moderns are noteworthy (or notorious) for rejecting the old, “modern” rationalism characteristic of much of mainline evangelical Christianity. But while this reaction makes this audience more open to the “world behind the matrix” of our own material plane of reality, it means that this audience is more prone to accept what is experienced as truth. Just because you become aware of the spiritual world in a very visceral way does not mean that you understand it or are in control of it. Your experience does not validate your experience. (3) It means that Christians can be demonized. By “demonized” I do not mean “possessed”—but I mean more than the traditional evangelical camp has been prone to acknowledge. It is quite common in the writings of evangelical Christians who venture into the study of UFOs and alien abductions to reject the idea that Christians can be victimized. It is also common to argue that, when Christians are affected, it is because they have invited the event by virtue of some occult dabbling (knowingly or otherwise). These positions lack Biblical merit and also fail to conform to the research realities. Christian pastors frequently encounter people in their churches who have had some sort of UFO/alien experience. Even more frequently, people in their churches know someone else— someone they consider highly trustworthy—to have had such experiences. Knowing little or next to nothing about ufology is a hindrance to helping such people process their experience. The same could be said for turning the matter into the butt of jokes. Dismissing “experiences” as in need of psychotherapy rather than being conversant with what it is they experienced means letting certain members of the flock fend for themselves. I have so many “former Christians” in my own limited experience in ufology that I can categorically say this happens all too often. (4) It means that Christians are engaged in spiritual warfare whether they fight or not, and whether they think it “sounds charismatic” or not. Scholarly research has demonstrated that there are many areas of overlap between modern UFO contacts and alien abductions and various occult practices.. Any Christian concerned with understanding the pervasive influence in our culture (and our churches) of practices and beliefs propounded by what are broadly referred to as the “New Age” or “neo-pagan” movements ought to be interested in ufology. Much in ufology appears to be little more than Gnosticism or ancient paganism repackaged for the 21st Century technological society. While it takes far less mental energy to just laugh at ufology and aliens and conspiracy culture, it is far more effective to “experiences” and those who know them when one can intelligently demonstrate that researchers within and outside the ufology community have noted quite a few links to paganism and occultism. (5) There are those researchers in ufology who, consciously or not, are being used My goal in this article was to present a broad overview of why I am involved as an academic in research relating to UFOs and alien abductions—and why you should be interested as well. If you have questions in your mind about the issues raised, I will have accomplished my task. Ufology raises many sincere and serious questions about how we perceive reality and our biblical worldview. Some are going to answer them. I would hope that the gap would be filled by Christians who are conversant with the issues, honest with the data, and capable of sound exegesis and theological analysis.

In reviewing the movie, the Fourth Kind it will be necessary to reveal some of the details and conclusion of the film’s premise. If you do not want to know this before seeing the movie then do not read on. However, my view would be that given this particular movie’s disturbing subject matter, one would do well to be pre-equipped before watching. Some members of the CMI-US staff based in Atlanta, Georgia, were privileged to attend a special private pre-screening in order that we could write a review to coincide with the imminent release of this movie. As one of very few Christians unraveling the evergrowing UFO phenomenon I had already conducted four radio interviews just two days prior to this screening, with more interviews for radio and even TV lined up in the next few weeks, all related to this subject matter. In addition, I have received numerous emails from people enquiring about the validity of this movie’s premise. Why all the sudden interest from the Christian media? In the United States, where this movie will be initially released, there has been a flood of movie pre-hype, advertizing, such as YouTube clips outlining the movie’s premise. And the marketing message was very clear: “We are presenting a docudrama based upon real events, real case studies and real archival footage to demonstrate that people really are being abducted by aliens.” However, after watching the movie, that particular claim was not really validated. What was clear is that the trailers’claims were a tad deceptive, as no “real” footage of people being abducted by any entity whatsoever was shown.
Being late at night, the virtually empty cinema had a strange spookiness about it even before the movie began. But the atmosphere was about to get a lot chillier as the lead actress Milla Jovovich (who has previously starred in science fiction and horror movies like The Fifth Element—Resident Evil) appeared on screen playing herself. She stated that although she would be playing the part of “real life” psychologist Dr Abigail Emily Tyler, the movie would be interspersed with real footage of interviews with patients and police video of events that besieged the small Alaskan town of Nome. Such forthright statements were clearly intended to lead the viewers along the path of belief that the producers want them to tread. Next we see the alleged real Tyler undergoing hypnotic regression at the hands of a fellow psychiatrist. The screen then divides with actress Jovovich on one half accurately reenacting the same scene at the same time and word for word. This was the pattern throughout most of the movie. This was a very clever ploy by the movie’s makers, because on the occasions when Jovovich was not sharing the screen with footage of Tyler, it gave the viewer the impression that every last detail of the script was based upon factual occurrences. To avoid confusion as I go forward if I mention a single person’s name, such as Jovovich or Tyler, it means that the person was appearing alone on the screen, but if you see Jovovich/Tyler together it means that the screen was split between alleged real footage of Tyler (or events recorded by her) and the actress (Jovovich) playing her, or even switching back and forth between the two. 47

However, during such therapy she is always unable to see the face of the killer. The death of her husband has caused unresolved trauma not only in her own life but the lives of her teenage son and young daughter.
Once such past events are recalled, often there can ensue a kind of self-reinforcement and self-delusion. Most people do this anyway, to some extent, during their normal waking lives. Stories of the past get added to and then repeated often enough until they can become “truth” in a person’s life.

This is because it is also now well-known that one’s mind or imagination can create false memories. Children who naturally have fertile imaginations are adept at this of course, but unresolved trauma in one’s life can also create alternate imagined scenarios that one might eventually believe to be true.

When people recount the details of their experiences, and even the ones portrayed in this movie, it is clear that they represent spiritual experiences. It really looked like it—the attacks seemed to be inflicted by non-visible beings. The alleged footage of the regression of abductees was extremely similar to demonic possession and reminiscent of the incident in Mark 9:17–26, where Jesus healed a young boy who was possessed by an evil spirit. On exorcizing the spirit we are told that:

The movie claims to have changed the names of the characters (including the police officers involved) for their own protection, and at the end of the movie it states that these persons declined to be interviewed or take part in the movie. This is very convenient, because it prohibits anyone from checking on the validity of the alleged events or event interviews. It also adds to the conspiratorial notions that silence means culpability. Supposed news-type websites have suddenly appeared on the internet claiming to authenticate the premise and the characters in the movie, and particularly the person of Abigail Tyler (even a dummy website listing her biography). Some researchers have discovered that many of these sites were constructed in a matter of weeks and just before the movie’s publicity started to roll off the line. This is a method known as 'Internet footprinting'.

The final scenes are played out with Tyler, wheelchair bound, being interviewed by the movie’s real-life screenplay writer and director at Chapman University (a real university, but like the points above they have denied ever conducting such interviews or even knowing Tyler). The portrayal of the scarred Tyler is harrowing, though. Although this may be a fictional account, the reality of such seriously damaged people is only too evident to those involved in abduction research. It is the real evidence of altered and broken lives that is only too recognizable as the fruit of the evil one using such deceptive and destructive practices to spite His Creator and turn the very subjects that God loves away from Him. Sadly, this fact is lost on secular researchers. Amazingly, the last scene with Tyler is extremely revealing. Her interviewer asks, “You said they claim to be God” (one entity was recorded saying these words in the movie). Tyler responds and says, “No, they pretend to be.”

Why would they consistently lie about things which we know are true, and why would they purposefully deceive their contacts?” All reading this should empathize with the trauma such people are undergoing. Many have never been to a church, never read a Bible and do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour. As such, they are prone to deception, and movies such as The Fourth Kind are only going to reinforce alien abduction theories and make people more vulnerable to such deceptions because of their lack of spiritual discernment. This area of spiritual warfare should be “bread and butter” for the church. It grieves me that many leaders do not know how to reach, and are not even willing to try and understand what is happening to, these people. A loving church that could embrace and explain this phenomenon will have people turning up at its door for answers. Unfortunately, most experiencers that I have met have felt shunned by the church. Instead, they seek the assistance of those in the UFO community who, sadly, will only reinforce the lie that they are being visited by highly evolved benevolent beings from another planet.

The best writings in Ufology have always drawn a clear distinction between fact and speculation. Such writings build, by way of ample factual analysis, a solid foundation upon which tentative explanations of the UFO phenomenon can be proposed. Heavenly Lights: The Apparitions of Fátima and the UFO Phenomenon, by Portuguese historians Joaquim Fernandes and Fina D'Armada is one such book. They have been investigating the Fátima incident since 1978, when they were the first historians given access to the original documents of the case held at the Fátima sanctuary. Heavenly Lights is both true to the real facts of the Fátima events (as distinguished from hundreds of previous works, which were without rigorous historical support) and abundant in detail (with hundreds of facts taken from the actual historical record). In Part I, the authors investigate the phenomena associated with the Being of Fátima. What the children encountered was a luminous being, similar in appearance to the aliens described in close encounter cases, that communicated with them, telepathically, as she stood at the end of a beam of light projected from a craft hovering high above them. In Part II, the authors revisit the Cova da Iria, where the contacts took place, and identify many aspects of the Fátima apparitions that also appear in the modern close encounter literature. These include thunder and lightninglike effects, a strange sound like "the buzzing of bees," bizarre clouds, strange odors, ramps of light, drying breezes, the fall of the peculiar substance "angel hair," and telepathic communication by the alien visitors. In Part III, the authors explain what actually happened during "The Miracle of the Sun." The evidence indicates that it was not an astronomical event but rather an aerial one that resulted when an alien craft caused a partial eclipse of the Sun and performed other amazing displays that bedazzled the thousands of curious onlookers who came to Fátima. In this meticulous phenomenological presentation, the authors have dug deep into the historical record as only Portuguese speaking researchers could, tracking down accounts from the time in the form of newspapers, meteorological reports, letters written by witnesses to their relatives, and even a couple of eye witnesses still alive when they were doing their research. What is crucial here was going back to the original testimonies and stories. Lucia, the primary "seer" ("experiencer"?), later entered a convent, and her story became progressively more and more attuned to the Catholic paradigm, her writings made subject to approval by Church authorities. The authors have put less emphasis on these later "official" versions, and relied more on the first reports. Lucia originally never said it was the Virgin Mary she saw, it was the adults around her that jumped to that conclusion. Based on the time and culture they lived in, how else could they have interpreted it? What emerges is something far stranger and less easy to interpret than a "simple" Marian apparition. Through careful analysis and comparison with other UFO cases, they show that most if not all elements present in the Fatima apparitions are found throughout the UFO literature as well.
