Pastoral Institute Diocese of Brooklyn Lay Ministry Program Elements of Spiritual Direction
Goals and Objectives To supplement each semester’s Day of Reflection by: Offering an introduction to the spiritual direction process. Encouraging participants seek opportunities for individual or group spiritual direction while in the program and as part of their continuing formation. To offer an experience of elements of spiritual direction to participants in the Lay Ministry Program as a support for their personal spiritual journeys by: Inviting facilitators to introduce the purpose of spiritual direction and to explain the process in the group. Using the group process in the context of prayer to share personal stories. Participants will grow spiritually through their own personal transformation by: Becoming more aware of the presence of God in the ordinary moments of their lives and in their experiences in the Lay Ministry Program. Committing to a period of time for group prayer and for personal daily prayer.
