Dear Parents and Carers With January over and spring just around the corner I am taking the opportunity to inform parents and students of some recent and future developments at Wellfield. Early Close: Next Wednesday, 12 February, we close at 12.30 p.m. for staff training. Students can stay on school premises, supervised until 3.25 p.m., to complete Home-based Learning in B14. A canteen service will be available for students between 12.30 p.m. and 12.50 p.m.; students are asked to order their food at break time. Careers Fair: Students in years 9, 10 and 11 will have the opportunity to visit a school based Careers Fair next Thursday, 13 February. Mr Adams (Pastoral Manager) has organised the event for the second year and has twentyfour employers/colleges attending to provide advice and guidance to students on careers matters. Year 11 Runshaw - Urgent Information Year 11 must return their Runshaw College “Acceptance Forms” to Runshaw by next Friday, 14 February, at the latest or Runshaw will cancel their offer. Anggels Spring Project: Our Anggels are seeking to continue supporting members of the community by providing Easter Hampers as they successfully did last year. These will consist of dried food items such as cans and other packaged foods. If you are able to donate a can or other dried food product it would be much appreciated. Students can bring items to Student Support and parents can bring them to the school office. Many thanks in advance for your support in this project. Footwear: There are a few minor issues with students wearing trainers to school with no good reason. After the February half-term break students will swap their trainers for a pair of black PE pumps for the day or in persistent cases, may be asked to return home to correct the issue as per our uniform policy. Sports Relief – Fitness14: On Saturday 22 March we are hosting our Sports Relief and PTA fundraising event “Fitness14” in our Sports Hall. We are asking for as many members of the school community to get involved by joining us in cycling on exercise bikes to attempt to cover the equivalent distance between Land’s End and John O’Groats (814 miles) in 12 hours, between 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. We are asking entrants to cycle for 15 minutes and to raise a minimum of £15 in pre-sponsorship. Time slots can be booked online at www.bookwhen.com/fitness14 then a £5 deposit needs to be paid to the school office within 5 days to secure the 15 minute slot, with the remaining £10 to be paid on the actual day. This is a great opportunity to raise an incredible total for Sports Relief and our PTA. Cont’d …/

In addition, some of our Anggels will be in school as part of the Anggels “Peer Mentoring” training with some of our primary schools.
