August 2015 Calendar of Events Baton Rouge Region August 12 (Wednesday): ROAD TRIP Southern Food & Beverage Museum / Café Reconcile / New Orleans Museum of Art $45.00 per Person Depart from Ochsner Plaza II: 8:00 am Return Time: 5:00 pm The Southern Food and Beverage Museum is a nonprofit living history organization dedicated to the discovery, understanding and celebration of the food, drink and the related culture of the South. It brings all races and ethnicities to the table to tell the tale, from the farmer and the homemaker to the line cook and the celebrity chef. The Southern Food and Beverage Museum celebrates, interprets, investigates, entertains and preserves. Café Reconcile is a non-profit restaurant located in New Orleans that serves as a primary training ground for students seeking to acquire skills in the food service industry. Lunch choices are: Baked Chicken with sautéed green beans or Chicken and Sausage jambalaya. Each dish includes a garden salad, Banana Foster bread pudding and a soft drink. New Orleans Museum of Art was founded in 1911 when local businessman Isaac Delgado offered $150,000 to the City Park Commission to create a “temple of art for rich and poor alike.” A century later, the museum still attracts art lovers from all over the world, and ranks among the top art museums in the country.
