The rescue mission took place in 1952 off the Cape Cod coast after two oil tankers, SS Fort Mercer and SS Pendleton, were destroyed by treacherous winter winds and waves. The crew of motor life boat CG 36500 and the crew of a surfboat from the USCGC Yakutat heroically rescued nearly all the tankers' crewmen. RSVP REQUIRED

The Fair Grounds has seen more than its share of horse racing history made along its mile mile-long oval. Threads of Love:
Threads of Love, through the effort and support of many participants in chapters across the country, provide clothing, blankets and other handmade articles for tiny premature and sick infants. All items are made by volunteers. Materials and labor are donated donat by ladies who are part of the Threads of Love ministry, who show the their ir love for the Lord by using their sewing talents in serving the Lord. When a parent is faced with the death of an infant through miscarriage, infant death or stillbirth, we reach out to them with a packet containing a bonnet, dress, blanket and a prayer er for healing of a broken heart. ations for Threads of Love are being accepted in the GO office. Checks made payable to: Littlest Angels Threads of Love Donations NOTE: Sam’s Club has renewed the contract with GO. You will receive the $10.00 gift card to be redeemed either at Sam’s or Walmart when you sign up as a new client with Sam’s Club or renew your present membership. Please call the GO office for instructions on how to get your gift card. For the members living in and around the Denham Springs area, a new policy for bus trips has been incorporated. We will pick up at the Piccadilly Cafeteria in Denham Springs,, if we are traveling in that direction for the road trip. You will need to inform the GO office that you want to be picked up at that location.
Upcoming Trips: March 9, 2016 Angola Prison Tour $49.00 per Person We will tour the prison, death row and the state execution chamber. We will have lunch at the Magnolia Restaurant with time afterwards to visit a few shops located in St. Francisville Francisville. Just a reminder: On road trips, please be aware of the amount of perfume or cologne that you use, some people are allergic to these products. When a fee is involved: Itt must be received within 5 days of making the reservation to confirm your seat. Please check availability with the GO office before mailing a check. YOU ARE NOT SCHEDULED FOR THE EVENT UNTIL THE CHECK IS RECEIVED. Please submit separate checks for events.
