INDOOR REGULATIONS – PLEASE READ THEM CAREFULLY 



Entries to be phoned to Indoor Secretary Mrs Lin McDermott 09 439 7464 or emailed to Lin at : [email protected] by closing time 4:00pm on Thursday 7th February 2013.



 

PLEASE NOTE: For safety reasons the Arapohue Hall will be closed at 3:00pm to approximately 3:15pm to remove the cages on show day – Saturday 9th February 2013.  FURTHER REGULATIONS Insurance cover is the responsibility of the exhibitor All exhibits in knitting, crochet, art, craft and hobbies can only be entered for 3 years and must be the work of an amateur Entries must be the bonafide work of the exhibitor and be exhibited in their own name.

Depot for Indoor exhibits – Stringers TV Services and Dargaville Sewing Centre. No later than 10:30am on Friday 8th February 2013. Definitely no food items to be left at these places.

 



Please place entries as early as possible with the Indoor Secretary so that entries can be processed.

In all indoor classes, where there is only one entry, SECOND prize money will be paid to the winner.





Judging of the Indoor Section will take place on the day preceding the show.



All exhibits must be staged in the Arapohue Hall, with tickets attached, ready for judging by 11:45am on Friday 8th February 2013. Only judges and stewards in the hall after that time.

The points awarded in each section will, unless otherwise specified, be reckoned as follows: FIRST PRIZE—6 points, SECOND PRIZE—4 points, In the event of a tie for any points prize, the winner of the most first prizes will take precedence. JUDGES CHOICE CERTIFICATES: will be awarded in each section and are an award of merit and carry no extra prize money. CHAMPIONSHIP CERTIFICATES: in the Dahlia and Floral Art sections are an award of merit and carry no extra prize money. SPONSORS PRODUCTS: may replace some prize money and some points prizes



Only Dahlias and Cut Flowers may be post entry.



Entry Fees: Adults – 50 cents and Children – 20 cents unless otherwise stated.



Prize Money: 1st - $2.00, 2nd - $1.00. Prize money may be replaced with products/vouchers from sponsors.



Prizes will be paid in the Secretary’s Office at 3:15pm on Saturday 9th February 2013.

PLEASE USE YOUR OWN RECIPE OR TRY THESE ONES: Class 73 KUMARA MUFFINS 1 3/4 cups sifted flour 2 tbsp brown sugar 1 tbsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts 2 beaten eggs 3/4 cup milk 11/4 cups mashed kumara 1/4 cup melted butter Sugar Cinnamon Method: 1. Sift flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt 2. Add walnuts. 3. Combine eggs, milk, kumara and butter. 4. Mix well. 5. Add the dry ingredients. 6. Mix until just moist. 7. Fill muffin pans 2/3 full. 8. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. 9. Bake at 212 degrees C for 30-35 minutes.

KUMARA COOKIES

1 cup butter 2 tsp vanilla 1–1/2 cups sugar 2 cups mashed cooked kumara 1 tsp salt 2 beaten eggs 1/2 cup chopped raisins 4 tsp baking powder 1 tsp cinnamon 2 cups flour 1/2 cup chopped nuts METHOD: 1. Cream butter and sugar. 2. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. 3. Stir in mashed kumara and vanilla. 4. Stir in sifted dry ingredients and combine with nuts and raisins. 5. Add to the kumara mixture, 6. Drop in tiny spoonfuls onto a cold greased tray. 7. Bake at 110 deg C for 20 minutes.

RUAWAI KUMARA CAKE:

1/2 cup butter 1 cup cooked mashed kumara 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup nuts 1 cup sugar 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp cloves 2 eggs 1/4 tsp soda 2 cups flour 1/2 cup milk METHOD: 1. Cream butter and sugar. 2. Beat in the eggs one at a time blending thoroughly. 3. Blend in in the kumara. 4. Sift all the dry ingredients together and add the kumara mixture, Alternately with the milk. 5. Add the nuts. 6. Mix the batter well. 7. Place the mixture in two papered and greased sponge tins. 8. Bake at 180 deg C. 9. Cool and ice with caramel icing

KOPURU KUMARA CAKE:

2 cups shredded kumara 1 1/3 cups sugar 3 tbsp butter 1/2 tsp salt 2 cups flour 1 cup chopped nuts

1 1/3 cups water 1 cup raisins 1/2 tsp allspice 1/4 tsp cloves 2 tsp baking soda

METHOD: 1. Combine raw shredded kumara, water, sugar, raisins and butter in a pot and cook five minutes after coming to the boil. 2. Put the pot into cold water to cool. 3. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to the cooled mixture. 4. Beat well. 5. Add the nuts and mix thoroughly. 6. Bake at 160 deg C in a prepared tin. 7. Cool and ice with lemon or orange icing.

KUMARA SCONES

2 oz (50g) butter 1/2 breakfast cup milk 2—21/2 cups self rising flour 1 egg 1/4 cup sugar 1 cup cooked mashed kumara (gold ones are nice) METHOD: 1. Cream butter and sugar. 2. Add kumara, egg and milk. 3. Mix. 4. Add sufficient flour to obtain scone consistency. 5. Roll or pat our and place on cold tray. 6. Bake 180-200 degrees C for 12-15 minutes.

KUMARA LOAF

1/2 cup cooked mashed kumara. 2 cups self rising flour 1 cup mixed dried fruit 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1 cup milk TOPPING: 1 1/2 tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon METHOD: 1. Place all ingredients together in bowl and beat at medium speed until well combined. 2. Put into greased loaf tin. 3. Sprinkle with topping ingredients. 4. Bake at 190 degrees C for about an hour or until firm when pressed.

(2) KUMARA LOAF 1 cup cold mashed kumara 2 1/2 cups self rising flour Pinch salt 1 tsp mixed spice 1 tsp ginger 225 grms butter 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 packet mixed fruit METHOD: 1. Cream the butter and sugar. 2. Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. 3. Add mashed kumara, salt and spices, with the mixed fruit, 4. Mix well and bake at 180 degrees C for 2 hours.

KUMARA LOAF 1 cup mashed cooked kumara 2 cups self rising flour 1 cup dates 1/2 cup bran 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp golden syrup 1 cup water

METHOD: 1. Blend all ingredients together. 2. Add warm water. 3. Stir well, then place in a greased loaf tin. 4. Bake at 180 deg C for about 40 minutes.
