JOB ANNOUNCEMENT PROJECT COORDINATOR Culturally & Linguistically Appropriate Services Advocacy, Consultation and Training (CLAS ACT) Organizational Description: NICOS Chinese Health Coalition is a public-private-community partnership of more than 30 health and human service organizations and concerned individuals. The mission of NICOS is to enhance the health and well-being of the San Francisco Chinese community. Since 1985, NICOS has been engaged in advocacy, research, training, resource development, coalition-building and program implementation for the benefit of this population and the organizations that serve it. Position Summary: The Culturally & Linguistically Appropriate Services Advocacy, Consultation and Training (CLAS ACT) Project was developed in accordance with the 15 enhanced National CLAS Standards and other best practice cultural competency models to reduce health disparities and improve outcomes among San Francisco’s diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, linguistic and sexual minority populations. Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities of this endeavor, including: recruiting organizations to undergo assessments to determine their cultural and linguistic competence, with a focus on the capacity to serve Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders (AANHOPI); developing a plan and coordinating and/or providing technical assistance (TA) and training to these organizations to enhance their cultural competence and adherence to CLAS standards; developing curriculum and faculty to meet diverse TA and training needs; and conducting data collection and evaluation activities. This is a full-time, benefitted, non-exempt position. Compensation: DOE + benefits Duties and Responsibilities:  Coordinate and manage activities of the CLAS ACT Project, including technical assistance, training, outreach, faculty development, and curriculum and materials development  Solicit and recruit organizations and/or groups to participate in the cultural competency assessment process, and provide coaching to assessed organizations in order to develop a plan for technical assistance  Develop and widely implement cultural competency training curriculum and educational outreach  Recruit, screen, hire, train, develop, coordinate and mobilize a team of consultants, subcontractors, interns and volunteers to assist in project efforts  Plan and coordinate meetings, trainings, focus groups, stakeholder groups, press conferences, and community events related to the project  Ensure integrity of service delivery, data collection, record-keeping and consultant payment systems  Ensure attainment of program goals, such as number of organizations/agencies assessed, TA days, within contractual guidelines and budget  Assist with evaluation activities to gauge the efficacy of CLAS ACT Project efforts  Develop qualitative and statistical reports for the San Francisco Department of Public Health  Assist in organizational, human resource and fund development  Other duties as assigned Qualifications:

BA/BS in health and human services or related field; Master’s degree preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills Demonstrated leadership and training/ teaching skills Strong initiative, creativity and self-motivation Strong knowledge of AANHOPI population needs Shared values with the agency, including those around social justice and community empowerment Willingness to travel within the state of California; have access to reliable, efficient transportation for local travel (valid CA driver’s license and access to car strongly preferred) Willingness to work nights and weekends as necessary Knowledge of cultural competency/anti-oppression/diversity issues helpful Bilingual/ bi-literate English/Chinese (Cantonese) a plus, but not required
