The Christian Call June 16, 2010 Brothers and Sisters in Christ, This Sunday is Father’s Day. This is the one day of the year that fathers and dads throughout our nation and community are honored for all they do or have done for their children, be they young or young at heart. Of course, there are those who maybe did not or are not having good relationships with their fathers; it happens, unfortunately. There are those who have been so abused and mistreated by their fathers in the past that they refuse to recognize any such thing as a father who is good and kind and loving. They hate even to the point of denying God or not recognizing God as Father of all. Now we must pray for them and do what we can to help them in their times of sorrow and fear, but we must, most of all, let them know in a loving and gentle manner, that God is not evil nor bad nor abusive. Rather, God is truly Love. God is not our mother, though He has motherly instincts. He is our Father, and has been since the beginning of time as we know it. He is a Father who is perfect, never failing, never complaining, and always loving. He is the Father we mortal fathers should strive to be like, not in perfection, for that is impossible, but in the way He treats His children. We must strive to be not only loving, but patient, understanding, nurturing, caring, compassionate, slow to anger, yet quick with a hug and a kiss. We must understand that our earthly children do not completely belong to us. Our Father gave them to us to care and nurture and love in order that one day they will grow in body, mind, and spirit to serve Him and to love and nurture the children God sends their way. So the cycle of love grows and continues until the Lord comes again to establish His kingdom of Earth. No matter what your relationships with your fathers are (or were); please know that our Father is always there for you and yours. Celebrate this Father’s Day with joy and gratitude, for we ultimately give thanks to our eternal Father, who gives us life, and showers us with His love with the full and certain knowledge that we will bask forever in His holy pleasure for now and all eternity. God bless you all and Happy Father’s Day!!!! As always, I am, Your brother in Christ, Larry NEW MEMBERS Welcome! Jarred and Justin Martin who were baptized on June 6. They are the sons of Janene and Lonnie Martin of Carrollton.

Phillip Fisher has an upcoming surgery. This will be about his 60 th surgery. In his own words—-what do you think I should do? : A) Have the less invasive surgery that is NOT all the way approved my the FDA, they aren't sure of many details and it would only buy me time, not fix the problem, or B) Have the open heart surgery its more invasive, longer recovery, and risky; however, I've done it before and it went very well! Sue Ellen Renne is in Life Care for knee rehab. Sue Ellen has knee replacement last week. Sheila Placke wasn’t playing the organ last Sunday.
