What is the ICA Program, “A Call to Leadership?”

Who Should Attend? All direct care professionals such as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Certified Medication Aides (CMAs), Home Care or Home Health Aides (HCAs/HHAs), Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Consumer Directed Attendant Care Workers (CDAC), Universal Workers, and other direct care professionals.

When You Complete the Program, You’ll Be Able to: • Define a professional. • List three ways to personally contribute to a positive image of the profession of direct care. • Identify five qualities of successful leaders. • Discuss ways to be leaders in one’s profession. • Identify barriers to taking a leadership role and list ways to overcome barriers. • Define advocacy as it applies to the direct care profession and explain why it is important.

On average, 94% of those who complete the ICA Leadership Program, “A Call to Leadership,” say it increases the likelihood that they will remain in the field of direct care.

There is no cost to attend this program. A light lunch will be provided.

Why YOU Should Attend

To promote the development of personal and professional leadership among direct care professionals.

This leadership program is a half-day, educational program for direct care professionals. It is taught by staff/consultants of the Iowa CareGivers Association. Students are asked to think more broadly about leadership outside of the workplace, professionalism, and how to become a spokesperson and role model for the direct care profession.

Cost Certificate Certificates of attendance will be provided to direct care professionals by the Iowa CareGivers Association.
