Dear Parents and Community Members: We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2010-2011 educational progress for Lincoln Elementary School. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Sam Skeels, Principal for assistance. The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site www.theadrianmaples.com or you may review a copy from the Lincoln Elementary School office. For 2010-2011, Lincoln Elementary School made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in English language arts and mathematics. While we are pleased to have reached this important goal, we are continuously working to improve. We appreciate the continued support of parents, staff and our community in this effort. State law requires that we also report additional information. Process of Assigning Pupils to School Students in the Adrian Public School district are assigned to schools using the attendance boundaries that have been established by the district. In addition, Lincoln Elementary accepts School of Choice students. Status of School Improvement Plan Lincoln Elementary School’s Improvement Plan aligns with the district’s Strategic Plan that includes literacy, with both reading and writing, and math. This process is continually evaluated and revised to meet current student needs. Specialized Schools Adrian Public Schools offers additional services to its students including Emotionally Impaired, Cognitively Impaired and Early Childhood programs, Young Children’s Services, Severe Multiple Impairment program, a Physically Impaired and Hearing Impaired classroom, Cognitively Impaired classroom at Adrian Middle School 7-8, and the Laura Haviland program which is a behavior treatment program for students in need. To Access a Copy of the Core Curriculum The curriculum set forth by the Adrian Public Schools Superintendent and Board of Education is adhered to by the Lincoln Elementary teachers. Our core curriculum follows the Michigan Curriculum Framework and is aligned with the Grade Level Content Expectations for the state. Lincoln teachers strictly adhere and ensure the standards are vertically aligned with the Michigan Curriculum Framework. A copy of the core curriculum is available for your review in the Lincoln Elementary School Office.

Aggregate Student Achievement For Lincoln School accountability in AYP, 90 % of students were proficient in English Language Arts/Reading and 94 % were proficient in mathematics. Please refer to the data link at the building’s school improvement website for more information about statewide assessment (MEAP, MI Access.) www.theadrianmaples.com Parent Teacher Conferences Percent of parent attendance

In Closing, being a part of the largest district in the county, Lincoln students have access to a wide variety of offerings and resources. However, Lincoln is the smallest elementary school in the entire county, exposing students to a more intimate family-like atmosphere. Our students receive the best of both worlds! Lincoln is known for its high student retention rate. This is due in part to the low teacher turnover, a high percentage of parent involvement and a strong Parent Teacher Organization. Most of our students walk to school with some coming from the Schools of Choice option. Please feel free to stop by Lincoln Elementary School if you would like to discuss this report and the accompanying data. Sincerely,

Sam Skeels, Principal
