Social media & marketing – helping to grow regional business FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 15 October 2012 Social media and websites can provide a cost effective and simple way to market your business - as long as you know how to use them effectively. Women in Business and Regional Development (WiB&RD) is hosting two days of workshops and a gala dinner in November to help businesses in our region learn about the power of social media and expand their ‘e-skills’. Mastering Social Media is a series of two workshops at Chardonnay Lodge on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 November: a day for those new to social media and a day for the more advanced operators who wish to expand their skills. ‘We are excited to bring popular presenter Steve Davis from Baker Marketing back to our region for these events,’ said Tammy Whitehead, Chairman of WiB&RD and Director of Whiteheads Timber Sales & Glenara Transport. ‘His knowledge of social media and e-marketing is second to none and he has an engaging and entertaining style that makes learning fun.’ The UFS Chemist Social Media Bytes dinner will be held on Monday 12 November at Upstairs at Hollicks, where participants will learn about social media, smart phones, apps and more in a friendly and entertaining setting. They will also enjoy a fabulous two-course meal and have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other businesses from around the region. Naming rights sponsor Barbara Beal from UFS Chemist said she was pleased to be supporting this exciting event. ‘Online technologies provide so many opportunities for business marketing, especially in regional areas where distance can be an issue,‘ said Barbara. ‘I’m really looking forward to hearing from Steve and sharing ideas with others who attend the evening.’
