Schedule of Events: 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a Jumbo beef hotdog, nachos and cheese, ice cream and a root beer while watching Indians highlights from years past on the Big Screen. Cost is $5.50 (no other food will be served this day). This special meal will be oven roasted turkey breast with stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, cranberry sauce and chocolate raspberry mousse for dessert. This monthly event is open to everyone. No other food will be served this day. Join Outback as he brings 10-15 captive born exotic animals. He will share the knowledge and passion he has for exotic animals with the audience. AARP Driving Safety Program Monday, May 7 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Licensed drivers 50 or older can take this class, designed to refine existing skills as well as develop new, safe defensive driving techniques. You may earn a certificate, and possibly qualify for lower auto insurance rate (check with your agent). Bring your driver’s license and AARP card to the first class. Remarks from Renee Happy Spring! I hope everyone is enjoying our beautiful spring weather and getting a chance to enjoy the outdoors. I wanted to thank everyone who supported the Lake County Senior Services Levy and the City of Mentor income tax. This will help us keep continue great programs and services here at the Senion Center We will be changing to 3 registration sessions per year instead of four. As a result we will have one month session in September. Beginning in October we will return to two month sessions.

Notes from Nick You asked for it and now its here! Ballroom dancing will be starting up this month. The first session will begin Monday April 23 from 12-1 p.m. in our dance studio. Or, if an evening class is more your style check us out on Wednesday, April 25 from 7-8 p.m. at Gotta Dance Ohio 8824 Mentor Ave. (Next to Davitino’s Restaurant). Don’t have a partner? Not to worry, individuals or couples are welcome. Please see Nick for more information. Senior Games. The Mentor Senior Center in partnership with Lake Metroparks, will be hosting a cornhole tournament Thursday, June 7. The Mentor Senior Center is the location rain or shine. Grab a partner and get ready to hole-it for gold! More information to follow in May. Attention Bridge Players, Starting April 1st we will begin quarterly signups due to the program filling up, don’t miss out and get your name on the list now!

Help When Needed Financial assistance is available for Mentor Senior Center activities. The Mentor Senior LLC Board of Trustees has allocated a limited amount of funding for our members who need assistance. Please request an application form at the front desk or call to receive one in the mail.

The application deadline is April 4 for summer programs.

N.E. Ohio Hot Flashes Now recruiting Women’s 50+ softball to compete locally, statewide and nationally. Please join us at Lake County Captains stadium on Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. for a fundraiser to help send our women to State qualifying for the Senior Games. We have a wonderful fitness center with a variety of cardiovascular equipment including 5 treadmills, 3 bikes, 2 seated ellipticals, and 3 standing ellipticals. The Tuff Stuff strength station offers a wide variety of exercises and the Precor stretch trainer offers great stretching options. You must be 55 years or older, a member of the senior center and must take the Exercise Equipment Training Class to participate in the Fitness Center. Exercise Equipment Training Learn to use the equipment safely in these 2 sessions. Learn proper form, seat settings, and weight settings and how to use a workout card to track your progress.
