REGULAR MEETING OF THE GILBERT COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD District Office Conference Room March 6, 2017 The regular meeting of the Gilbert Community School Board of Directors was called to order by President John Nelson, at 6:01 p.m. with the following members answering roll call: Brian Anderson (via telephone), Sean Barber, Tyler Holck, Kim Mosiman and John Nelson. Motion by Holck, second by Barber to approve the amended agenda. Motion carried unanimously. Administration Present: Lindsey Beecher, Carrie Clark, and Tim Pezzetti. Visitors: Nancy Nelson, Jim Quarnstrom, John Haila, and Sonja Albertsen. John Haila was present to answer questions regarding the Long Range Facility Master Plan options. Public Forum: there were no public forum items. The 2016-17 District Priorities updates were reviewed by the Board and Administration. Administrator Reports – Carrie Clark presented a Curriculum Update for the board. She reviewed changes in Next Generation science standards, State roll out plan, and TLC updates. Tim Pezzetti, AD, requested the board’s approval to change the coed track meet to be called Lindsay Ellingson Invitational Track Meet. The board supported the change. Superintendent Beecher reported on a request from staff to donate leave for other staff in need of paid leave. An administrative procedure was used in the past for catastrophic events. The board suggested to move the practice from administrative procedure to a handbook policy, based on past practice. Announcements/Celebrations – Successful 2017 Rock Hop was held Saturday, March 4th. The intermediate school was ranked #7, along with the elementary at #16 according to 2017 Best Public Elementary Schools in Iowa NICHE. The Board received the Food Service and Custodial Reports for March. Board Reports –Tyler Holck reported on the progress of the bike trail project. Jeri Saltzman is coordinating the “Gilbert Trail Project” communication and solicitation of donations. Tax deductible donations can be made out to the Gilbert Historical Society and dropped off at City Hall. Second reading of new policy 902.4 – Live Broadcast or Recording was held. Motion by Holck, second by Mosiman to waive the third reading and approve and read. Motion carried unanimously. Second reading of reviewed/amended board policies 500-502.8R1. Motion by Barber, second by Holck to waive the third reading and approve as read. Motion carried unanimously. After the Board further discussed Haila’s Long Range Facility Master Plan, options and next steps, Holck presented a motion to commission Haila to move forward to the next stage of exploratory planning for multiple projects in preparation for a future bond issue, assuming an agreeable fee structure will be reached, second by Barber. Motion carried unanimously.

March 6, 2017, Minutes, page 2 Secretary Hopkins reviewed the 2017-2018 Proposed Certified Budget with the Board. Motion was made by Mosiman, seconded by Barber to set the budget hearing Monday, April 10, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. Motion carried unanimously. Secretary Hopkins reviewed the FY2016 District Audit with the board. Motion by Holck, second by Mosiman to approve the audit. Motion carried unanimously. Motion by Barber to approve the ISU Agreement for Cross Country Meet August 24, 2017, second by Holck. Motion carried unanimously. The board held the first reading of reviewed/amended board policies 502.9-506.1.
