Josie Duncan and Pablo Lafuente are a vocal/guitar duo like no other. Josie's voice is crystal clear with its slight island twang, equally at home in any of these domains. Accompanied by Pablo's dynamic, sensitive guitar playing, they illuminate the lyrics. The music at times sparse and haunting, at others driving and all consuming, leaving audiences stunned. They are both accomplished musicians. Josie has toured extensively, performing at festivals and venues in Europe, Canada and America. Pablo is a musician in high demand playing, recording and touring internationally with artists including: The Outside Track, Barluath, Sketch and Spanish Gaita maestro Anxo Lorenzo. ‘S e còmhlan gun samhail a th’ ann an Josie Duncan agus Pablo Lafuente a ghlèidh duaisean ceòl traidiseanta BBC Radio 2 ann an 2017. Tha guth Josie, anns a bheil blas nan eilean ri chluinntinn, cho glan ris an òr. Bidh cluiche ghnìomhach, thuigseach Phablo a’ soillseachadh nam faclan air a’ ghiotàr. SABHAL MÒR OSTAIG MAIN HALL What if your food started talking back? Meet Lionel the lion. He’s just eaten a human called Mamoru for lunch.

Wednesday 25 September 6.30pm Diciadain 25 An t-Sultain 6.30f

EATEN BY MAMORU IRIGUCHI INDEPENDENT ARTS PROJECTS

Thought-provoking family friendly show

Being very hungry, Lionel didn’t chew his food, so Mamoru is still alive and very well in his stomach, and now wants to say hello... In a cuddly lion costume, Mamoru simultaneously plays the roles of the eater - Lionel the Lion who dreams of being a vegetarian, and the eaten - Mamoru the human, who loves meat. Occasionally interrupted by haunting puppets representing the animals they have both consumed in the past, the predator and the prey develop a firm friendship. With a surrealist, humorous storyline and imaginative puppetry, Eaten invites audiences to think about food, how it’s produced, what they eat and why. One hour long. Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland 2017 (CATS): Nominated for best children’s show.

“psychedelic whirl of chanting, dancing, drums, cymbals “ The Times  British Theatre Guide

SABHAL MÒR OSTAIG MAIN HALL Adapted by Kevin MacNeil from his best-selling novel, The Stornoway Way is full of wit and wisdom, both a romantic evocation and a scabrous critique of the Isle of Lewis - “a great and symbolic chip off Scotland’s shoulder”. The play tells the story of Roman Stornoway, a struggling musician, and his best friend Eilidh. Both are disaffected underachievers, who fuel and delay their dreams of escape from the island with frequent drinking binges. They eventually manage to make their way to the city, where Roman is smitten by the mysterious Hungarian student Eva. With a variety of voices from Lewis and a musical soundtrack featuring original and traditional songs in Gaelic and English, The Stornoway Way is a story about the search for the ideal, the desire for happiness and the struggle to come to terms with who you are, versus who you want to be.

Stèidhichte air an nobhail chliùiteach le Kevin MacNeil, tha The Stornoway Way làn gliocais, gaoil is gàire agus lèirmheas geur ga dhèanamh air Eilean Leòdhais - “a great and symbolic chip off Scotland’s shoulder”. ‘S e sgeul Roman Stornoway a th’ aig cridhe an deilbh-chluich, ceòladair a tha a’ strì ri a bheò-shlàint a chosnadh, agus a bhanacharaid, Eilidh. Cha do choilean an dithis a-riamh na bha comasach is bidh iad ag òl airson an cuid phlanaichean airson an t-eilean fhàgail a chur fan comhair ach cuideachd airson dàil a chur anns na planaichean ceudna. Aig a’ cheann thall tha iad air am baile mòr a ruigsinn far a bheil Roman air a bheò-ghlacadh le Eva, oileanach annasach às an Ungair.
