JOB ANNOUNCEMENT SOCIAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT– PART TIME/TEMPORARY FLORENCE IMMIGRANT & REFUGEE RIGHTS PROJECT The Organization The Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project (www.firrp.org) is a non-profit organization providing free legal services to the more than 4,000 men, women, and unaccompanied children detained for immigration removal proceedings in Arizona on any given day. Because there is no right to government-appointed counsel in immigration proceedings, an estimated 86% of immigrants appear alone before an immigration judge. The Florence Project addresses this inequity by providing legal orientation and education services, individual legal intakes, court preparation activities, referrals to volunteer attorneys in the community, and direct representation to immigrants in federal custody who cannot afford to hire private counsel. Part Time Social Services Administrative Assistant The Florence Project Integrated Social Services Program has an immediate opening for a social services administrative assistant in our Phoenix office. Our Integrated Social Services program is one of the few in the U.S. to collaborate with immigration attorneys in educating, empowering, and providing legal assistance to unaccompanied immigrant children awaiting deportation hearings. Many clients served are held in shelters, group homes, or long-term foster care overseen by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) throughout Arizona. We also provide services to children released from ORR custody, reunified with sponsors or family members in Arizona, with open immigration and family cases. . One of the current projects for the Integrated Social Services Program is expanding the knowledge of community resources available to our client population and making this information accessible to all staff. The Social Services Administrative Assistant will provide the Integrated Social Services Program with critical support in this project including, but not limited to contacting and updating community resource information, data entry, and administrative support This is a temporary, part time position, lasting approximately 6 weeks, 10 hours a week. There is flexibility in the hours worked, between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday- Friday. The position will likely last 6 weeks, but there is a possibility for the position to be extended depending on the need and funding. There is also the possibility of remote work. Salary is $12/hour. The position is not eligible for benefits. Job Responsibilities Include: Contacting community resources about services offered and the ability of our clients to access their services; Entering resources into database and website; Making sure resources are not duplicated or omitted Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills, a flexible team player, and ability to show initiative and work independently Excellent typing and data entry skills Experience with web based programs Familiarity with basic design programs Highest ethical standards, maintain confidentiality, and comfortable working in a legal office setting; Spanish fluency a plus
