Pesach 5770
Dear Parents, Our celebration of Pesach, the highlight of a Jew’s year, has too often been thought of in terms of the challenges brought in its preparation. The beauty and uniqueness of the Chag can sometimes be overshadowed. To counteract that, it might help to focus on what a special occasion can do for us and especially our children. We know that the weekly Shabbos imbues the weekdays with greater meaning and purpose. Similarly, and to a much greater extent, the entire celebration of Pesach uplifts and enlarges the meaning of what it means to be a Jew. Rather than continuing with the calm, predictable rhythm of mundane life, we upend our existence, bring chaos to what was a controlled environment, spend well beyond what we would have otherwise, and eventually reach the finish line of hosting or participating at a lavish banquet, as if we were a member of some royal family. What happens to the children in this whole process? What is the payback at the end for all the tension, expenditure, disruption and general craziness we subject ourselves to? The answer is - the greatest gift any parent could ever give to their beloved child. We are reliving the greatest event in history, and in so doing we imbue our child’s Neshama with the pride and glory of being an heir to the most illustrious family on the planet. We fill them with the self-esteem and self-confidence that comes from believing in Hashem’s omnipotence and His intervening in the affairs of mankind, for the betterment of His people. The Pesach celebration is not a Hollywood set or a Madison Avenue make-over – it’s the real thing, and it is the very foundation of each family’s and each individual’s identity. It’s only through the ‘specialness’ of the Pesach experience that we transform our children’s lives throughout the entire year to ones of purpose, meaning and of love that flows to Hashem through their family, through Klal Yisrael and through all of creation. When the going gets rough – stop yourself and remind yourself – this is definitely worth it all. How else could I ever give the ultimate gift to my children – the gift of pride in being who they are. Best wishes for a calm pre-Pesach and an exciting and uplifting Pesach,

Pictured here with Ms. Grossman, school Librarian, are children who were honored with donations to the TEAM library on the occasion of their birthdays.
For $18 you may honor your child’s birthday with a book. A bookplate with the student’s name is placed on the inside of the cover; the student takes the book home for a week before it becomes a part of the library; the student’s picture appears in the TEAM Spirit. Thank you to all who are participating in this effort to increase the volumes of our library. Sincerely, Mrs. Dennis, PTA Volunteer
