In the survey, responders were asked to provide written comments if they had anything to add relative to Future Town Needs. The Council will review these comments and the scores as we make decisions about future town needs .
Comments – Town-Operated, Password Protected Wi-Fi Site: TOTAL: 28 Comments/860 Returns (3.2%) After each completed survey was returned to the Town, each completed survey was given a number for record keeping purposes. The number before each comment represents that number.
312- Not sure? 283- Good, but. 228- Depending on costs, this would be nice; however, better and cheaper Mediacom service or another service provider might be more economically feasible. 38- Why password protected? 369- Town-operated WiFi – more reliable and less expensive than Mediacom?? YES!! 64- Site, YES – No password. 67- WiFi could be financed by user fee not taxes. 73- How do you control WiFi site? 122- For whom? 135- YES!! 147- Town operated password protected WiFi site has to be much more cost effective than Mediacom. Let’s get into the 21st century. 160- Great Idea! 163- WiFi site would be a mistake. 184- Need more detail on benefits/pitfalls/provider.

386- Does that mean that the whole town would be on WiFi? Depends on cost. Probably not needed. 415- Waste of taxpayers’ money. 437- Need more information on this. 459- A town WiFi (depending on cost) would be very helpful to full-time residents. I’m considering a switch to Direct TV at this time. Feel free to contact me. 525- Definitely needed for residents. 545- Only if reaches to all homes and is password protected. 554- All of SB? 557- Absolutely opposed to town WiFi! 689- Love to see the town be a WiFi site. This would open up new electronic options while on the beach. It would also be a nice added feature to attract people to SB. 721- For whom? 725- Need to know if enough people would use it to make it worthwhile. 732- That would be cool! 752- Would this be available to renters/owners during the season? 779- Get WiFi for whole town and put into tax bill – very important.
